Country Club Casual, or elegant resort wear, is appropriate dress for all evenings aboard The Paul Gauguin. Country Club Casual consists of a dress, or skirt or slacks with a blouse or sweater for ladies, and slacks and collared shirts for gentleman. No ties are required at any time, although gentlemen may opt to wear a jacket to the Captain’s Welcome Reception. Please note that casual wear such as shorts, t-shirts, casual jeans (frayed and/or with holes), baseball caps, flip-flops, and Crocs are not considered appropriate after 6:00 pm in all restaurants and lounges. Bathrobes and bathing suits are not appropriate in the ship’s restaurants and lounges, and shirts and shoes are required in all public areas at all times.

Tauchen & erster Tauchgang
Begleitung der Tauchgänge
Ihre Tauchgänge werden von unseren PONANT Tauchguides begleitet. Diese werden sich um Ihre Sicherheit und einen reibungslosen Ablauf kümmern. An einigen Tauchplätzen, wie in Naturschutzgebieten oder wenn die örtlichen Vorschriften dies vorschreiben, wird zusätzlich ein lokaler Führer das Tauchen begleiten.
Erforderliches Tauchlevel während dieser Kreuzfahrt
Das erforderliche Niveau für Gäste, die während dieser Kreuzfahrt tauchen möchten, ist PADI Open Water Diver, CMAS 1 Stern oder ein gleichwertiges Zertifikat. Die Zertifizierung, das Tauchlogbuch und ein aktuelles ärztliches Attest (weniger als 12 Monate alt) müssen zu Beginn der Kreuzfahrt den PONANT Tauchguides vorgelegt werden.
Ablauf der Tauchgänge (zertifizierte Taucher)
Der Tauchguide behält sich das Recht vor, die Fähigkeit der Taucher auf maximale Sicherheit zu überprüfen. Da wir an abgelegenen Orten tauchen, werden die Tauchgänge ohne Dekompressionsstopp durchgeführt. Ein Sicherheitsstopp von 3 Minuten bei 5 Metern ist obligatorisch. Die Tiefe, die erreicht werden kann, hängt von der Zertifizierung der Taucher ab:
- Für diejenigen mit PADI Advanced Open Water Diver-Zertifikat (oder einem gleichwertigen Zertifikat) beträgt die maximale Tiefe bis zu 20 Meter.
- Wenn zwei CMAS sterne oder PADI Advanced Open Water Divers (oder gleichwertiges Zertifikat) unabhängig tauchen möchten, müssen sie zuerst eine Einweisung erhalten. Sie müssen Tauchcomputer haben und dürfen maximal eine Tiefe von 20 Metern erreichen.
Ablauf der Schnuppertauchgänge (Tauchanfänger)
Vor dem ersten Tauchgang zeigt Ihnen der Tauchguide die Ausrüstung und erklärt, wie unter Wasser mit Handzeichen kommuniziert wird und wie das Atmen durch einen Atemregler funktioniert. Sobald Sie im Wasser sind und mit der entsprechenden Ausrüstung ausgestattet sind, lernen Sie, wie Sie einige Minuten lang durch Ihren Atemregler an der Oberfläche atmen. Wenn der Tauchguide das Gefühlt hat, dass Sie bereit sind, taucht er mit Ihnen etwa 20 Minuten lang bis zu einer Tiefe von maximal 6 Metern.
Dauer der Tauchgänge
Die Tauchgänge dauern 2 bis 3 Stunden, einschließlich der Fahrt zum Tauchplatz und des Tauchens. Diese Dauer kann je nach Standort, Taucherniveau, Wetterbedingungen und Teilnehmerzahl variieren. Für erfahrene Taucher variiert die Tauchdauer je nach Ort, Erfahrung und Verbrauch des Tauchers zwischen 35 und 60 Minuten.

Tauchermaske und Schnorchel: Aufgrund von Covid-19 und der damit einhergehenden aktuellen Gesundheitssituation empfehlen wir Ihnen aus hygienischen Gründen, eine eigene Tauchermaske und Schnorchel mit an Bord zu bringen. In Ausnahmefällen können diese gemäß den Hygienebedingungen* ausgeliehen werden.
Gäste können an Tauchaktivitäten teilnehmen, sofern bestimmte Bedingungen eingehalten werden, die im Einklang mit den am Tag des Tauchgangs geltenden gesundheitlichen, wissenschaftlichen und medizinischen Maßnahmen festgelegt wurden.

Genießen Sie ihre paradiesischen Strände und das türkisfarbene Wasser ihrer Lagune, aber auch die strahlende Schönheit ihrer Pflanzenwelt und die duftenden Blumen, die das Landesinnere bedecken. Um das gesamte Ausmaß dieses Schmuckstücks der Natur zu erkennen, können Sie sich zu dem Aussichtspunkt Belvédère von Moorea begeben. Die 16 km² große Insel Aitutaki besitzt einen kleinen Fischereihafen mit einigen Motorschiffen. Hier verläuft das Leben noch in einfachen und friedlichen Bahnen. Machen Sie während Ihres Aufenthalts einen Spaziergang am Ufer der prachtvollen Lagune, die als eine der schönsten und spektakulärsten der Erde gilt. Schnorchelliebhaber entdecken die Schätze der Unterseewelt. Die Insel ist auf den Verkauf von schwarzen Perlen und die Herstellung von bunten Pareos sowie von „Tivaevae“ genannten Patchworkarbeiten wie beispielsweise Decken spezialisiert. Auf der Fahrt überqueren Sie die berühmte Datumsgrenze. Diese imaginäre Linie an der Erdoberfläche verläuft im Pazifischen Ozean in der Nähe des 180. Längenkreises. Da die Erde rund ist und aufgrund der Notwendigkeit, über einen Referenzmeridian zu verfügen, muss beim Überqueren dieser Linie das Datum geändert werden. Wenn Sie mit dem Schiff in westlicher Richtung reisen, müssen Sie einen Tag zum erwarteten Datum hinzufügen, und umgekehrt, reisen Sie in östlicher Richtung, muss ein Tag abgezogen werden. Dieses bereits von Magellans Mannschaften während ihrer Weltumsegelung beobachtete Paradox wurde mehrfach als Triebfeder in Romanen benutzt, wie beispielsweise im berühmten In 80 Tagen um die Welt von Jules Verne.

Enjoy a slow-paced bicycle guided tour to Belvedere and the Pineapple Valley. Your guide will commence the tour by giving you an introductory course on how to use the simple E-bike settings. Waverunner adventure*

Explore the volcanic crater from which Moorea was created during this scenic, off-road island safari via off-road vehicle.
Depart the pier in an off-road vehicle for a journey inside the volcanic crater from which Moorea was created. En route, you will discover the heart of a huge pineapple plantation inside the island's deepest valley. Moorea, Polynesian's Green Garden, is renowned for its Agricultural School, which receives students from all the outer islands. A stop will be made here to sample some homemade jam. Ice cream and local fruit juices will also be available for purchase.
Your guide will then drive you across a large plantation filled with vanilla, bananas, grapefruits, and oranges, and will acquaint you with the island's diverse flora and fauna. Next, you will continue to an open-air temple, or marae.
After a stop to learn about the Polynesian culture, you will ascend to the top of Belvedere lookout for spectacular vistas over Cook's and Opunohu Bays. Depart the pier for the boat transfer to the base. Depart the pier in Cook's Bay for the brief transfer via minivan to the Hilton Moorea Lagoon & Spa, where the ATVs are based. Upon arrival, you will receive your safety and riding instructions. Then, begin your ATV ride. Your guide will lead you along the road to Belvedere lookout for magnificent views and photo opportunities over Cook's Bay, Opunohu Bay, and Mt. Rotui.

Island drive & belvedere

Whale watching expedition
From July through October humpback whales come to Moorea's waters to rest, mate, give birth, and nurse their calves.
Dr. Michael Poole's team will take you on this exciting and educational boat-based eco-tour where you can observe humpback whales in their natural environment, the ocean. If conditions are favorable (a calm sea; calm whale behavior) and participants who are strong snorkeler, then you may also snorkel in the water to observe the whales. You can also bask in the dramatic beauty of Moorea and learn about its geology.
Whales are found during 95% of these tours, and you may also see schools of dolphins. The primary objective will be to find and observe humpback whales, and if possible, to slip into the water to observe them underwater.
Getting into the water is not obligatory or always possible, so people who simply want to observe whales from the boat are also welcome. In February 2019 Dr. Poole and his research and conservation efforts on humpback whales were featured on Animal Planet and ABC TV. His team operates with the utmost respect in the presence of these incredible giants. A guarantee cannot be given that whales will be found nor that it will be possible to get into the water, but the team will do their best.

Lagoon discovery with snorkeling

Depart the pier aboard a comfortable and modern boat featuring covered areas designed to protect you from the direct rays of the sun. As you cruise along these majestic bays, your captain will inform you about the legends, geography, and flora and fauna of Moorea.
Next, you will continue on to a gorgeous sandy islet surrounded by transparent turquoise waters that are shallow enough to walk comfortably in the sea. Upon arrival, you will have a rare opportunity to feed the awaiting rays; they will gracefully glide around you in exchange for a piece of fish. Aquablue – Underwater walk
Explore Moorea's splendid marine life in a unique new way during this underwater walking and snorkeling adventure.
Depart the pier for the drive to the Intercontinental Moorea Resort & Spa. Upon arrival, you will meet your instructor, then be outfitted with your wet suit and water shoes before embarking on a 10-minute boat ride inside the majestic lagoon of Moorea. The crew will anchor the boat off the coast of Motu Fareone or inside the lagoon in Papetoai (depending on sea and weather conditions). Your certified diving instructor will explain your safety and diving instructions, help you put on your helmet, and assist you with descending the ladder into the crystal-clear water.

Catamaran sail
Explore Moorea's beauty from above and below the water during this relaxing sailing and snorkeling excursion aboard a catamaran.
Depart the pier aboard the beautiful, 43-foot catamaran, and sail to Moorea's northern coast, then on to a pair of French Polynesian's most beautiful bays: Cook's and Opunohu. En route, you can sit back and relax, or savor a fruit juice under the canopy astern. Upon reaching Opunohu Bay, the captain will drop anchor in the clear blue waters of the lagoon. After receiving your safety and snorkeling instructions, you will have the chance to discover the underwater tiki place and the marine life residing there, including coral formations and reef fish.

Taha'a cultural tour
After a brief tender boat ride to the pier, you will be met by your local guide and "Le Truck".
You will start exploring this scenic island, known as the Vanilla Island, by first visiting a Vanilla Plantation. You will have a brief tour of the grounds of the plantation and a presentation into farming and cultivation of this precious spice.
Afterwards you will continue your guided tour and you will learn about the history, the legends and present-day life of Taha'a. There will be a number of photo stops along the route.

Coral garden drift snorkeling
Depart the ship by covered motorized boat for a 15-minute ride along the west coast of Taha'a.
Upon arrival, you will disembark the boat for a guided walk across an uninhabited islet, or motu, located just off the coast. After reaching the other side of the motu, you will commence your snorkeling session. Your guide will lead you as the current carries you through the shallow lagoon on the way back to the boat. The drift can be moderate to strenuous depending on the strength of the current. The drift is done in a single line with one snorkeling guide leading the 12 snorkeller spaced 10 feet apart and one snorkelling guide closing up on the group. This area abounds with a spectacular variety of tropical fish and amazing coral.
Upon returning to the boat, refreshments and additional snorkelling time will be made available before you are transferred back to Motu Mahana.

This informative stop will help you understand the value of these lustrous jewels in these islands – and around the world.
Continue on to a small motu for an opportunity to snorkel in its crystal-clear water. This motu is located close to a pass where experienced snorkeler can observe the drop-off of the reef. Don your snorkeling gear and enter the water, where you will see wonderful underwater fauna and a myriad of tropical fish swimming around you.

Explore Taha'a's exquisite topography, ancient culture, and local economy during this scenic and memorable off-road tour.
Depart the pier in an off-road vehicle for the ride across one of Taha'a's highest mountains. Along the way, your guide will point out sights of interest, and a stop will be made at a scenic viewpoint to learn about the traditional uses of local plants and trees.
The island of Taha'a is often called Vanilla Island, and you will learn about this fragrant spice while visiting a small family plantation. Afterwards, you will visit a small black pearl farm to learn how these treasures are cultivated and harvested. These small cottage industries represent a large part of this small island's economic structure.

Bora Bora island tour by "Le truck"
Explore the island paradise of Bora Bora during this scenic orientation tour via Le truck. For a long time, this picturesque mode of transport has been the emblematic means of transport in Polynesia, especially on the Society Islands.
Depart the pier aboard a Le truck. First, you will drive through the district of Fa'anui. Along the way, you will pass by small villages and fields that offer a glimpse into the everyday life of the people of Bora Bora. A brief stop will be made at Fa'anui Bay for photographs of Mounts Otemanu and Pahia.
Your drive will continue on to the ancient ceremonial site of Fa'anui Marae, followed by a look at the bunkers constructed by American GIs during WWII. Next, a stop will be made at Mama Edna's to sample such local delicacies as breadfruit, poe mixed with coconut milk (not marinated), taro and tropical fruit. You will also have an opportunity to buy some local, hand-painted pareos. From a lookout point, you will see Mount Otemanu, Bora Bora's highest peak, which stands as a silent sentinel over the Pearl of the Pacific.
You will then pass by Bora Bora's Club Med Village before reaching sandy Matira Beach. A stop will be made here to take in splendid vistas and photo opportunities before driving back to Vaitape.

Depart the pier for the brief transfer via Le Truck to the waverunner launching point. Lagoon cruise & Polynesian feast
Lagoon tour of Bora Bora in a traditional outrigger canoe (motorized), with ukulele animation and narration on culture, history and nature of Bora Bora.
The lagoon tour includes three stops. The first one is for snorkeling in a coral garden, where visitors can discover many different colorful fish, corals, and many other inhabitants of a wonderful natural ecosystem. The guide accompanies the visitors in the water. The second stop is the visit of the stingrays in shallow water. These rays are tamed since more than 20 years. The approach is gentle and respectful, keeping in mind preservation of nature. The last stop is on the ocean side, for the observation of black tip reef sharks.
After the morning of snorkeling, Polynesian feast is served on a private island (motu). Lunch is cooked in a traditional earth oven made with volcanic rocks, and covered by banana leaves. The guests watch the opening of the oven, and listen to the explanations of the guide. The table is set in the lagoon, with an umbrella to protect guests from the sun. On the menu: suckling pig, chicken with local spinach, manioc, plantain bananas, bread fruit, raw fish salad with coconut milk, and finally a traditional dessert made with bananas and vanilla, as well as fresh tropical fruits. Depart the pier with your driver for an off-road excursion to places only accessible via Land Rover. Your driver will navigate the steep terrain and introduce you to the plants, trees, and lifestyles of Bora Bora. You will drive through the small town of Vaitape on the shore of Pofai Bay, then ascend Pahonu Hill. Here, you will find expansive views of Bora Bora’s natural harbor and Matira Beach.
You will then continue on for a second ascent, more off-road adventure, and a visit to the cannons still standing in their original World War II locations. Next, you will travel along Bora Bora’s north shore for a visit to the lush valley of Fa’anui. Relaxing time at the Lagoonarium
Depart the pier in Vaitape (or Anau) aboard an outrigger canoe for a scenic ride in the Bora Bora lagoon (weather permitting). You will then continue to the Lagoonarium, with its white sandy beach and open-air aquarium. From the beach you will have a magnificent view of the island of Bora Bora. Upon arrival, enjoy an opportunity to swim in separate enclosed areas. During your visit, you will also participate in up-close encounters with marine life, including sharks, rays, jack fish, turtles, parrot fish, and more. Snorkeling begins from the beach in shallow water ranging in depth from 3-10 feet and is suitable for beginners and experienced snorkelers. Your local guides will show you how to carefully approach the marine life, will present you the motu and you will invite to participate in weaving coconut palm, sheathing coconut and pareo demonstrations.
After your visit, you will be served fresh fruit and spend some time relaxing on the beach before heading back to the pier.
Because the outrigger canoes are not always uncovered, the ride can be extremely sunny or wet from spray or rain. At times transfer is by car and boat. Guests exiting the canoe must use the ladder on the south side and walk in shallow water back to the beach. A small souvenir shop is available on the island, and all purchases are cash only; U.S. dollars or Pacific Francs are accepted here. Depart the pier for the brief transfer to the helipad. After boarding your helicopter, you will take off for a 30-minute flight seeing tour over Bora Bora, the Pearl of the Pacific. You will then head towards north and enjoy a bird’s eye view over the famous heart-shaped island, Tupai. Along the way, you can use the headphones to listen to your pilot's commentary as he points out the sights below. Bora Bora island tour by "Le truck"
Explore the island paradise of Bora Bora during this scenic orientation tour via Le truck. For a long time, this picturesque mode of transport has been the emblematic means of transport in Polynesia, especially on the Society Islands.
Depart the pier aboard a Le truck. First, you will drive through the district of Fa'anui. Along the way, you will pass by small villages and fields that offer a glimpse into the everyday life of the people of Bora Bora. A brief stop will be made at Fa'anui Bay for photographs of Mounts Otemanu and Pahia.
Your drive will continue on to the ancient ceremonial site of Fa'anui Marae, followed by a look at the bunkers constructed by American GIs during WWII. Next, a stop will be made at Mama Edna's to sample such local delicacies as breadfruit, poe mixed with coconut milk (not marinated), taro and tropical fruit. You will also have an opportunity to buy some local, hand-painted pareos. From a lookout point, you will see Mount Otemanu, Bora Bora's highest peak, which stands as a silent sentinel over the Pearl of the Pacific.

Shark & ray watching by glass bottom boat

After embarking your glass-bottom boat at the pier, you will depart for a brief cruise. Your guide will then tie the boat to a mooring in about 25 feet of water and try to attract black-tipped sharks. Bora Bora off-road adventure
Embrace Bora Bora’s pristine natural beauty in an exhilarating new way during this exciting off-road adventure along the road less travelled.
Depart the pier with your driver for an off-road excursion to places only accessible via Land Rover. Your driver will navigate the steep terrain and introduce you to the plants, trees, and lifestyles of Bora Bora. You will drive through the small town of Vaitape on the shore of Pofai Bay, then ascend Pahonu Hill. Here, you will find expansive views of Bora Bora’s natural harbor and Matira Beach.
You will then continue on for a second ascent, more off-road adventure, and a visit to the cannons still standing in their original World War II locations. Next, you will travel along Bora Bora’s north shore for a visit to the lush valley of Fa’anui. Snorkeling tour
You will board small boats each seating 10 guests and travel to Motu Maina where you can snorkel and those that wish would have the option of visiting the motu. It takes approximately 15 minutes to travel each way, as the boats are very fast.
This area has beautiful giant clams and is a marine reserve and is a nesting area of the red-tailed tropic birds.
You will return to your ship at the end of the visit.

Circle island tour
From the pier, your around-the-island drive will take you past several of the island's villages. You will visit a marae (sacred Polynesian temple grounds) site. Pass through plantations of various crops grown here on Aitutaki. Learn about the island's myths and legends while taking in its beautiful scenery.
Aitutaki has a unique geographical make-up – the island is a volcanic atoll with the typical volcanic peaks in the center of the island with the encircling coral reef ringed by the offshore islands (motus) and the lagoon in the center. The Circle Island Tour is a great way to see the island and meet the locals.

Lagoon cruise with beach break
Aitutaki's deep blue lagoon is considered to be one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. Part volcanic and part atoll, the island's geographical structure makes this lagoon unique.
This tour will give you the opportunity to experience the best Aitutaki has to offer in the short time available during your visit.

Swallow cave & island getaway
Vava'u's big island is set in a cluster of nearly 40 smaller islands. The only harbour providing access to Neiafu is considered one of the most picturesque in the Pacific.
Your tour will consist of a boat cruise that winds through the harbour to the island of Kapa. The main attraction of Kapa Island is beautiful Swallow's Cave which perforates a cliff at its northern end. The cave is in fact inhabited not by swallows but by hundreds of swift lets that flit about in the dim light and nest in the darkness of the cave's upper reaches. You can only view the swallow cave from outside from your boat unless weather permits you to swim into the cave.
Afterwards you will continue to Falevai Mui Houma Beach. With its crystal blue waters and perfect beach, it is one of the most exquisite places on Vava'u Island. You will have time to enjoy a swim in the warm, clear ocean or simply relax on the white, sandy beach.

Nukubalavu village tour
Experience the day-to-day life of Fijian people during a memorable visit to an authentic Fijian village. Journey along the scenic coast road to visit Nukubalavu Village, home of the paramount chief of Savusavu. Guests will be greeted by the village elders and invited to witness and participate in a kava ceremony where the powdered kava is mixed with water and presented by a'bilo' (coconut cup) to those who wish to taste this ceremonial drink. Following the ceremony the guide will take guests on a tour of the village to experience the warmth of the native Fijians. Nakawaqa Waterfall & Rainforest
Your day begins with a 40-to-50-minute drive along the cross island road to Nakawaqa Rainforest located on the northeastern part of Savusavu town.
Guests are welcomed on arrival by the villagers and escorted to the waterfall following trails in the rainforest. Normally 30 minutes trek in the forest from and to the waterfall. Choose one of the three pools to have a dip or refreshing swim. Wainiliku Creek is surrounded by 200 acres of virgin tropical rainforest with huge indigenous trees and other species. The walk to the falls is under the shade of the forest canopy.
Return to the waiting area for fruit refreshments and browse amongst the local village handicrafts before boarding the bus to return to Savusavu.

Savusavu Sightseeing
Your first stop on this tour will be just outside of town at the factory of Copra Millers of Fiji - the leading manufacturer of coconut oil in Fiji.
Witness the processing of Virgin coconut oil which is extracted from the coconut flesh with the minimal amount of processing i.e. no high heat or pressure and no harsh chemical solvents, bleaching agents, etc. The oil is completely unrefined to ensure it retains all the natural goodness of the coconut itself. There is a huge demand for coconut oil overseas. Malaysia and Taiwan are Fiji's biggest markets.
Re-board the coach and enjoy a leisurely scenic drive along the coastal picturesque Hibiscus Highway. En route, pass the renowned Namale Resort (owned by Anthony Robbins - motivational guru) and Oneva Estate, once a prosperous copra plantation which has now been developed into a residential subdivision and is home to many expatriate retirees. Pass coastal beaches and old coconut plantations before arriving at Vatudamu Community Hall for entertainment and refreshments by the local people.

Snorkelling tour
At the edge of the reef which runs out from Savusavu Bay is a Lighthouse, which gives its name to the famed snorkelling site.
Board either the "Island Fever" or the "Island Paradise" and take an enjoyable fast and scenic ride along the inside of the Bay to snorkel amongst beautiful coral and tropical fish in crystal-clear turquoise waters. Savusavu is home to some of the most vibrant and colourful coral in Fiji. There are numerous plate corals, soft spaghetti corals and fish, fish, fish…. myriads of black and white sergeant fish as well as clown fish, orange and purple anthias, trumpet fish, pale green damsel fish, humpbacked wrasse and Maori wrasse. The scene takes on the appearance of a tropical aquarium as abundant small fish dart in and out of the striking coral. Giant clams, grouper and parrotfish are also commonly seen in and around the coral formations. Sea turtles frequent the Lighthouse so it is always a treat to see one or two. Occasionally a friendly white-tip reef shark will be seen.

Waisali rain forest & Reserve
The Waisali Reserve is one of the few remaining unexploited forests in Fiji and is the natural habitat for the native Fijian hardwood – some of the trees being over 100 years old. On the two-hour forest trail engulfed by majestic trees you may be fortunate to see or hear the red breasted musk parrot or the beautiful orange dove – both endemic and rare bird species.
The quiet serene is disturbed only by the occasional sound of the barking pigeon and moving stream water. Take time to rest in the bur beside the rock pool which is home to finish species, eel, prawn and freshwater snails. The reserve fresh water fauna are unique so the pool is kept undisturbed and is not suitable for swimming. This tour involves uphill walking so good walking shoes are recommended.

Snorkelling in Beqa Lagoon
Beqa Lagoon tour is an exhilarating high-speed adventure and coral reef tour that will take in the magnificent reefs that surround Beqa Lagoon and its islands. Fiji's culture & heritage tour
Visit Fiji's capital city, Suva – centre of commerce and the seat of government. This guided drive tour will take you to see various iconic sites such as the President's Residence and nearby Albert Park (where Kingsford Smith landed his small aircraft on his epic flight from the United States to Australia in 1928) as well as Thurston Botanical Gardens.
During the tour you will also see The Borron House (home of Fiji's greatest statesman Ratu Sukuna and for use only by foreign dignitaries). You will also have the opportunity to visit the Fiji Museum. Bilo Battery Historical Site and World War II Heritage Site is also included in the tour on 12 April only.
During World War II, the guns at Bilopeninsula lent a degree of comfort to the people in a time of uncertainty and fears of news of the Japanese invasion flashed across the Pacific. The guns once pointed out from the side of Bilopeninsula like twin fingers of death, down to the Bay of islands in Lamiand across Suva harbour to the capital. They were placed there to guard the passage in the reef leading to Suva harbour.

Molituva village
Molituva is an old village fort that was the dwelling place of one of Fiji’s most fiercest and feared warriors. Touring the ruins of this great fort one could envisage the lives of these greater fighters. The dug out moats still visible and to walk the maze of tracks build by the warriors is indeed an experience that is not easily forgotten.
The Molituva tour takes you back in time and you can feel the eerie feeling as if you were there in those primitive days when witnessing the strewn old pottery, stone axes and traded steel axes dated back to the 13th century. On arrival, you will be met and greeted with a serenade, then you will be informed on the village protocol that needs to be observed. Fully dressed warriors and traditionally dressed women escort you to the Village hall, where you can observe the different activities performed such as husking and scraping coconuts, weaving baskets and mats…
Observe a traditional sevusevu ceremony as well as the traditional meke and re-enactment of tribal wars by warriors as they invade the village arena. Farewell songs will escort you back to your coaches.

Colo-i-Suva trek tour & waterfall

Cultural village & firewalking show
Legend has it that over 500 years ago the men of Beqa Island were given the gift of being able to walk on fire by an eel in exchange for its life. Today, the descendants of these warriors carry on the tradition, observing the same strict rules of tabu as the ancestors. Men are chosen as representatives from different villages. Ten days prior to the ceremony, they segregate themselves from females and are not allowed to eat coconut. The fire pit is dug out 12 to 15 feet in diameter and 3 to 4 feet deep. Large river stones are then collected and placed in the pit, filling it up. Six to eight hours before the ceremony a log fire is built over the top of the stones, heating them up. The Fire walkers are led to the arena accompanied by dances and chants. Leaves and vines are grazed across the stones to prepare the pit. The men then proceed to walk across the stones in a few different phases. Finally, a bundle of grass is thrown onto the pit and the group huddles in the centre while chanting a song. Bands around the ankle of each participant, which are made of tree ferns that do not burn, are thrown into the pit. The pit is finally covered with earth, and days later, the ankle bands are recovered and ground up, mixed with water, and eaten by the Fire walkers.
A tender boat will transfer you from the ship to the beach on Beqa Island. From the beach landing area, you will walk approximately 20-25 minutes to the village along an uneven, rough dirt path. Upon your arrival in the village, you will be greeted and welcomed by the fearsome Fijian warriors in traditional costumes. Villagers serenade and escort you to the village green where a traditional kava ceremony will take place. You will then be seated in a covered area to watch the ceremony and the Meke, a special dance performed by the dancers normally only for their Paramount Chief. The highlight of the village visit is the Fire walking!
After all the excitement, you will walk back to the beach for your transfer back to the ship.

Enjoy a slow-paced bicycle guided tour to Belvedere and the Pineapple Valley. Your guide will commence the tour by giving you an introductory course on how to use the simple E-bike settings. Choose the setting that fit your fitness level, from no assistance to Turbo and off you go visiting the beautiful Pineapple Island.
At every stop the guide will provide you with a multitude of details about the sites and their history. Waverunner adventure*
Experience Moorea's idyllic coastal beauty in an exciting new way during this fun-filled waverunner adventure. Depart the pier for the boat transfer to the wave runner center.
Upon arrival, you will receive your safety and simple operating instructions from your guide, then embark your wave runner and begin your ride. Led by your guide, you will cruise either along the west coast of Moorea or through the spectacular Opunohu Bay or Cook's Bay.

Aito Off-Road safari
Explore the volcanic crater from which Moorea was created during this scenic, off-road island safari via off-road vehicle.
Depart the pier in an off-road vehicle for a journey inside the volcanic crater from which Moorea was created. En route, you will discover the heart of a huge pineapple plantation inside the island's deepest valley. Moorea, Polynesian's Green Garden, is renowned for its Agricultural School, which receives students from all the outer islands. A stop will be made here to sample some homemade jam. Ice cream and local fruit juices will also be available for purchase.
Your guide will then drive you across a large plantation filled with vanilla, bananas, grapefruits, and oranges, and will acquaint you with the island's diverse flora and fauna. Next, you will continue to an open-air temple, or marae.
After a stop to learn about the Polynesian culture, you will ascend to the top of Belvedere lookout for spectacular vistas over Cook's and Opunohu Bays. Depart the pier for the boat transfer to the base. Upon arrival, you will receive your safety and riding instructions from your guide, then embark your two-seat catajet for a 1.5-hour ride in an idyllic lagoon on Moorea. Depart the pier in Cook's Bay for the brief transfer via minivan to the Hilton Moorea Lagoon & Spa, where the ATVs are based. Upon arrival, you will receive your safety and riding instructions. Then, begin your ATV ride. Your guide will lead you along the road to Belvedere lookout for magnificent views and photo opportunities over Cook's Bay, Opunohu Bay, and Mt. Rotui.
You will also venture across the valley, through a river, and past pineapple fields, and stop at an ancient open-air temple, or marae, to learn about the Polynesian culture. Island drive & belvedere

The distance around this idyllic island is approximately 38 miles (62 kilometers), and your ride offers many spectacular sites and photo opportunities. You will ride past pineapple fields and visit an ancient Tahitian stone temple, or marae, en route to Belvedere.
At the summit, take in magnificent views of Cook's Bay, Opunohu Bay, and Mt. Rotui. Your ride continues on through the village of Papetoai and past the nearby tombs of the first missionaries. Your coach will return to the pier via the other side of the island. Whale watching expedition
From July through October humpback whales come to Moorea's waters to rest, mate, give birth, and nurse their calves.
Dr. Michael Poole's team will take you on this exciting and educational boat-based eco-tour where you can observe humpback whales in their natural environment, the ocean. If conditions are favorable (a calm sea; calm whale behavior) and participants who are strong snorkeler, then you may also snorkel in the water to observe the whales. You can also bask in the dramatic beauty of Moorea and learn about its geology.
Whales are found during 95% of these tours, and you may also see schools of dolphins. The primary objective will be to find and observe humpback whales, and if possible, to slip into the water to observe them underwater.
Getting into the water is not obligatory or always possible, so people who simply want to observe whales from the boat are also welcome. In February 2019 Dr. Poole and his research and conservation efforts on humpback whales were featured on Animal Planet and ABC TV. His team operates with the utmost respect in the presence of these incredible giants. A guarantee cannot be given that whales will be found nor that it will be possible to get into the water, but the team will do their best.

Lagoon discovery with snorkeling

Depart the pier aboard a comfortable and modern boat featuring covered areas designed to protect you from the direct rays of the sun. As you cruise along these majestic bays, your captain will inform you about the legends, geography, and flora and fauna of Moorea.
Next, you will continue on to a gorgeous sandy islet surrounded by transparent turquoise waters that are shallow enough to walk comfortably in the sea. Upon arrival, you will have a rare opportunity to feed the awaiting rays; they will gracefully glide around you in exchange for a piece of fish. Aquablue – Underwater walk
Explore Moorea's splendid marine life in a unique new way during this underwater walking and snorkeling adventure.
Depart the pier for the drive to the Intercontinental Moorea Resort & Spa. Upon arrival, you will meet your instructor, then be outfitted with your wet suit and water shoes before embarking on a 10-minute boat ride inside the majestic lagoon of Moorea. The crew will anchor the boat off the coast of Motu Fareone or inside the lagoon in Papetoai (depending on sea and weather conditions). Your certified diving instructor will explain your safety and diving instructions, help you put on your helmet, and assist you with descending the ladder into the crystal-clear water.

Catamaran sail
Explore Moorea's beauty from above and below the water during this relaxing sailing and snorkeling excursion aboard a catamaran.
Depart the pier aboard the beautiful, 43-foot catamaran, and sail to Moorea's northern coast, then on to a pair of French Polynesian's most beautiful bays: Cook's and Opunohu. En route, you can sit back and relax, or savor a fruit juice under the canopy astern. Upon reaching Opunohu Bay, the captain will drop anchor in the clear blue waters of the lagoon. After receiving your safety and snorkeling instructions, you will have the chance to discover the underwater tiki place and the marine life residing there, including coral formations and reef fish.
Afterwards, you will set sail toward Cook's Bay before returning to your ship. The well-equipped catamaran offers facilities that include a rest room and shower, and a shaded area with comfortable seats.

After a brief tender boat ride to the pier, you will be met by your local guide and "Le Truck".
You will start exploring this scenic island, known as the Vanilla Island, by first visiting a Vanilla Plantation. You will have a brief tour of the grounds of the plantation and a presentation into farming and cultivation of this precious spice.
Afterwards you will continue your guided tour and you will learn about the history, the legends and present-day life of Taha'a. There will be a number of photo stops along the route.
Your final stop will be at the 'Motu Pearl Village' where you will find out all about the creation of the Tahitian Black Pearl and enjoy refreshments and local fruits in season. After the visit you will be transferred by boat directly to Motu Mahana.

Catamaran sail
Get on-board a luxurious catamaran and indulge yourself with a breathtaking cruise in the amazing waters of Taha'a Lagoon. Thanks to the shallow draft, Catamaran will take you to shallow areas, over multiple shades of blues and turquoises of the lagoon.
While your crew sets up the sails for a magnificent sailing, feel the sea breeze as your eyes discover beauty of the Vanilla Island. During your sail, fresh fruits and juice will be served and your Tahitian hostess will help you better understand the Polynesian culture.

Coral garden drift snorkeling
Depart the ship by covered motorized boat for a 15-minute ride along the west coast of Taha'a.
Upon arrival, you will disembark the boat for a guided walk across an uninhabited islet, or motu, located just off the coast. After reaching the other side of the motu, you will commence your snorkeling session. Your guide will lead you as the current carries you through the shallow lagoon on the way back to the boat. The drift can be moderate to strenuous depending on the strength of the current. The drift is done in a single line with one snorkeling guide leading the 12 snorkeller spaced 10 feet apart and one snorkelling guide closing up on the group. This area abounds with a spectacular variety of tropical fish and amazing coral.
Upon returning to the boat, refreshments and additional snorkelling time will be made available before you are transferred back to Motu Mahana.

Depart the pier aboard a motorized outrigger canoe for the 10-minute ride to Poerani, a black pearl farm. The vanilla industry is the island's most important business, followed closely by the production of black pearls. At the black pearl farm, you will learn all about the most beautiful jewel of French Polynesia: the magnificent black pearl. This informative stop will help you understand the value of these lustrous jewels in these islands – and around the world.
Continue on to a small motu for an opportunity to snorkel in its crystal-clear water. This motu is located close to a pass where experienced snorkeler can observe the drop-off of the reef. Don your snorkeling gear and enter the water, where you will see wonderful underwater fauna and a myriad of tropical fish swimming around you.
Following your snorkeling session, you will embark the canoe for the return ride to the Motu Mahana for Paul Gauguin's Beach BBQ.

Exploration of Taha'a
Explore Taha'a's exquisite topography, ancient culture, and local economy during this scenic and memorable off-road tour.
Depart the pier in an off-road vehicle for the ride across one of Taha'a's highest mountains. Along the way, your guide will point out sights of interest, and a stop will be made at a scenic viewpoint to learn about the traditional uses of local plants and trees.
The island of Taha'a is often called Vanilla Island, and you will learn about this fragrant spice while visiting a small family plantation. Afterwards, you will visit a small black pearl farm to learn how these treasures are cultivated and harvested. These small cottage industries represent a large part of this small island's economic structure.
During the return drive along the east coast of the island, your guide will entertain you with tales of island life and lore. Upon returning to the ship, a tender service to the Paul Gauguin's private island, Motu Mahana will be available throughout the day.

Pure snorkelling with reef discovery
The excursion will stop at least three times (depending on the sea conditions, visibility and timing), at different points of the island to snorkel in the most preserved coral gardens of the lagoon. You will have an opportunity to see a rich variety of fishes and beautiful coral formations as well as the amazing Manta and Eagle rays.

Bora Bora island tour by "Le truck"
Explore the island paradise of Bora Bora during this scenic orientation tour via Le truck. For a long time, this picturesque mode of transport has been the emblematic means of transport in Polynesia, especially on the Society Islands.
Depart the pier aboard a Le truck. First, you will drive through the district of Fa'anui. Along the way, you will pass by small villages and fields that offer a glimpse into the everyday life of the people of Bora Bora. A brief stop will be made at Fa'anui Bay for photographs of Mounts Otemanu and Pahia.
Your drive will continue on to the ancient ceremonial site of Fa'anui Marae, followed by a look at the bunkers constructed by American GIs during WWII. Next, a stop will be made at Mama Edna's to sample such local delicacies as breadfruit, poe mixed with coconut milk (not marinated), taro and tropical fruit. You will also have an opportunity to buy some local, hand-painted pareos. From a lookout point, you will see Mount Otemanu, Bora Bora's highest peak, which stands as a silent sentinel over the Pearl of the Pacific.
You will then pass by Bora Bora's Club Med Village before reaching sandy Matira Beach. A stop will be made here to take in splendid vistas and photo opportunities before driving back to Vaitape.
Finally, you will get back to the pier.

ATV adventure in Bora Bora*
These modern state of the art ATVs will surprise you with their ease of use and ability to conquer any obstacles and still providing you with an exhilarating and comfortable ride. During this guided tour you will ride along the scenic coastal road of mainland of Bora Bora, but the excitement is found during the off-road drive through the tropical forests and jungle of Bora Bora up and down steep paths and trails leading to the lookout points. The spectacular scenic stops across the lagoon and the neighboring islands of Taha'a, Raiatea and Huahine give you breathtaking views and photo opportunities. Shark & ray watching by glass bottom boat
Get acquainted with sharks and rays in a unique new way during a glass-bottom boat ride in Bora Bora and a swim with stingrays.
After embarking your glass-bottom boat at the pier, you will depart for a brief cruise. Your guide will then tie the boat to a mooring in about 25 feet of water and try to attract black-tipped sharks. You will observe the dance of these ocean denizens and, if you are lucky, spot some lemon sharks known to frequent the area. Next, you will proceed to a shallower, clear lagoon for a rare opportunity to view graceful stingrays and even swim alongside them.

Underwater viewing takes place through large glass windows. The roof provides protection from the sun and eliminates glare, enhancing photo and video quality.
