Die im äußersten Osten der Insel Seeland, in nur wenigen Kilometern Entfernung von den schwedischen Küsten gelegene Stadt Kopenhagen bietet Ihnen die ganze Buntheit der skandinavischen Metropolen. Sie können deren Sehenswürdigkeiten mit dem entlang der Kanäle durch die historischen Viertel Christiansborg und Nyhavn entdecken. Zahlreiche Paläste geben Ihnen einen Einblick in die dänische Geschichte. Kulinarisch lockt das Smorebrod, ein traditionelles dänisches Gericht mit verschiedenem Räucherfisch.
Tromso, Arctic capital
Tromsø, the capital of the North is located on Troms, an island covered with forests. It is also called "the gateway to the Arctic", since it used to be the headquarter of seal and walrus hunters, and the starting point for several Arctic expeditions.
From the pier, board your coach for a tour of this charming city and proceed to the Science Centre of Northern Norway. Here, you will sit and lean back in the comfortable chairs of the planetarium to watch the beautiful film "Experience the Aurora". During the 25-minute show, you will learn everything about the illusive Northern Lights with most of the footage shot in the Tromsø region.
After the visit, depart to the Polar Museum. The museum is located in the old Custom House. It is closely linked with the Arctic Association which aims to preserve records from bygone times, when Tromsø was a major base for hunting and expeditions on a larger scale. The museum also shows a great part of the equipment, skis, tents etc. that the explorer Roald Amundsen used on his South Pole expedition.
Next, re-board your coach and drive to the Arctic Cathedral passing the famous Tromsø Bridge. The ultra-modern architecture of the cathedral symbolizes the immense strength of the ice pack in the Arctic Ocean. The interior is dominated by the beautiful stained glass-window covering the eastern wall, picturing "The Return of Christ". After the visit to the church, head back to the pier.
- This excursion includes some walking on flat ground, and some steps at the museum and the cathedral. We recommend you to wear comfortable walking shoes and to dress in layers. Arctic cathedral may be closed to visitors due to ecumenical services.

Norwegian tundra by husky sled
From the pier, you will board your coach for a half-hour transfer to the wilderness centre. Upon arrival, you will meet your guides and get your winter-weather gear before receiving a short safety briefing.
Sit back on the sled and relax for about 20 minutes as your musher guide leads the eight energetic dogs. Breathe in the fresh winter air as you enjoy a journey through the Arctic tundra, taking in the stunning views of the area’s towering cliffs and spectacular fjords.
Then, you will return to the centre to warm up with a coffee or tea while sitting in a traditional lavvu tent. You will listen to stories about local life from your guide. Finally, you will enjoy a guided tour of the centre before boarding your coach and returning to your ship.

Depending on the temperatures and amount of snow that falls, the grounds may be slippery or even pure ice! Participants must wear water- and wind-proof winter clothes. Sweet encounter with huskies
Spend a wonderful time with one of Northern Norway's most iconic animals: the husky.
After travelling through the breathtaking snowy landscapes of the northern part of Norway, you will arrive in Breivikeidet, east of Tromso, with the Lyngen Alps as your backdrop. At base camp, you will be greeted by these sweet creatures that love to interact with people. It is truly a unique experience. After sharing a moment with the huskies, enjoy a delicious coffee break.

Snowshoeing to the Viking village
With snowshoes on your feet, in the heart of wild nature enveloped in its coat of snow, you will set off to explore Tonsviking, a charming medieval homestead dedicated to Viking history and the ancestral traditions of the people of the North.
In Tonsviking, in a place where time stands still, on a former sacred site, discover five structures that have been meticulously constructed using age-old Viking and Sami techniques.
The project, begun several decades ago by a master builder, is an ode to the craftsmanship and way of life of the people of the North. In the blacksmith's shop, discover metal and copper work, before immersing yourself in the Viking spirit with a tasting of home-made mead and a snack, in a majestic Viking hall.

Scenic Tromso by RIB boat
This excursion starts at the pier where you will be picked up and escorted to the RIB (rigid-hulled inflatable buoyancy) boat.
Following a short introduction, you will get your equipment (if needed depending on the weather) and briefing, you will sit astride a comfortable seat allowing everyone to enjoy the views. You will then start your exploration of local waterways while admiring stunning seascapes.
You will travel the sheltered waters of Tromso and hear stories from your guide about the history of the city, its people and the creatures native to these parts. You may have the opportunity to spot eagles flying overhead and harbour porpoises in the sea.

Sami camp discovery
From the pier, embark on a 1 ¼ hour journey by coach to Máze, a Sami village located on the outskirts of Alta.
The Sami’s roots in Arctic Europe trace back at least 5,000 years. Descendants of nomadic people, they moved depending on their country geopolitic and finished to be confined in the northern extremity of the country. They belong to the Finno-Ugric branch of the Uralic family, and are mostly represented in Lapland and adjacent areas of Northern Norway, Sweden and Finland. Learn about the vibrant culture of indigenous Norwegians during your visit.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your hosts, members of a reindeer-herding family. You will have the opportunity to climb on board a reindeer-pulled sled for a picturesque ride along a frozen river. Relax as you glide along to the sound of reindeer bells and snow crunching under hooves.
After your ride, return to the village, where you will be invited into a large traditional tent called a lavvu. Take a seat next to a roaring fire and taste traditional specialities while your hosts entertain you with stories of Sami traditions and modern life. Later, you will return to your ship.

Arctic landscapes by dogsledding
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 30-minute transfer to the Husky dog centre. Upon arrival, you will meet your guides and receive a short safety briefing.
Sled over the scenic Arctic landscapes while being pulled by a team of lively huskies. Relax as your experienced musher guides and the well-trained dogs negotiate the rugged terrain. You will breathe the fresh air, riding through the forests and along the Alta river.
At the end of your ride, you will return to the husky farm to warm yourself with a hot beverage while sitting in a traditional Sami lavvu (tent), listening to your guide’s tales of racing sled dogs. You will have an opportunity to spend time there and photograph the charming huskies before returning to your ship.

Snowshoes hiking & ice fishing
Try your hand at snowshoeing and ice fishing, two popular winter pastimes in Norway.
From the pier, embark on a 30-minute drive to your staging area, where you will meet your local guide and receive a short safety briefing. Fasten the bindings of your snowshoes and set out into the wintry tundra. You will breathe in the refreshing air and listen to the rhythmic crunching of the snow as you walk along the tree-lined trail. Winter walking is an excellent way to admire the Arctic landscape surrounding Alta.
Then, you will take a break by a frozen lake or river, and be initiated to the ice fishing. Ice fishing is one of the most popular winter activities in Norway, a country which counts thousands of lakes. Every year, enthousiasts of all ages bring their fishing rods and set off to find their own lake full of trout or char. You may cast a fishing line under the ice before being welcomed into a tent to relax by a warming fire. You will enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee or cocoa with a homemade pastry.
Afterward, you will return to your ship.

Journey to Polar Park
Travel across Norway’s scenic winter landscapes for a visit to the impressive Polar Park. Located at the 69° northern latitude, this reserve is the northernmost wildlife park in the world. The park is home to a large variety of Arctic mammals, including wolf, lynx, wolverine, musk oxen, elk, reindeer, mountain fox and badger.
From the pier, embark on a picturesque journey by coach from Narvik to the park. You will cross the 2,500-foot-long Rombak Bridge and continue along the Herjansfjord before heading inland through the birch tree forests of the Gratangs Valley.
At Polar Park, you will be able to walk along a 2½-mile-long asphalt path that will allow you to observe the animals in their enclosures. The living spaces are large—the park boasts the world’s biggest area-per-animal ratio—so be patient and keep watch for the inhabitants.
Then, you will enjoy a light lunch at the park before returning to your ship.

Arctic railway
Arctic Train transports you 43 kilometres through a desolate, wild and beautiful landscape along the Ofot line. The line stretches from Narvik in Nordland to Kiruna in Sweden and is Norway's most northerly railway. From the ice-blue fjord in Narvik to the bare mountains in Sweden, there are several historical events that form a dramatic backdrop for this excursion.
The construction of the Ofotbanen started at the end of the 19th century to ensure access to an ice-free export port for the huge iron ore deposits from northern Sweden. Itinerant workers, so-called "rallers" sought their fortune in what was referred to as Europe's "Klondyke", and at most over 5,000 people were involved in the construction of the track. As an export route for Europe's largest and most important iron ore deposits, the route was particularly important to control during the Second World War.

WWII in Northern Norway
Gain an in-depth understanding of Narvik's role in World War II during a visit to the War Museum and city cemetery. An important year-round, ice-free harbor with railway links to the rich iron ore mines of nearby Sweden, this northern port city was strategically vital to both the Germans and the Allies during the early days of the conflict. This culminated in the Battle of Narvik in April 1940-and the five-year Nazi occupation of the city.
Take a short drive to the Narvik War Museum, where its curator will guide you through the collection of photos and artifacts. You will also see a short film that focuses on the local events of World War II, as well as the universal issues related to war.
After browsing the exhibits, make a solemn visit to the city's cemetery, the final resting spot for the 34 Commonwealth soldiers who died during the Narvik campaign, before returning to your ship.in.

Henningsvaer & Lofotr Museum
From the pier, board your coach and proceed to Henningsvær. You will discover the everyday life of one of the most picturesque fishing villages in the Lofoten Islands, with its backdrop of mountain peaks. Until 1962, when Lofoten fisheries were at their peak, more than 6,000 fishermen used this as their base from January to April. Because of the unique light and beauty of the surrounding nature, artists find inspiration with these islands.
Continue your visit with the Lofotens House Gallery, which have North Norway’s largest collection of paintings from around the turn of the last century, a period considered as the Golden age of North Norwegian art. Here you will find the works of well-known Norwegian artists, like Otto Sinding, Gunnar Bergen, Thorolf Holmbo, etc.
Then, proceed to Borg, and explore the Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg, the site of the ancient Viking farm that was discovered by a farmer plowing his land in the early 1980’s. You will even be able to visit the reconstructed Longhouse. It has been proven that the Lofoten Islands were a centre of power already at the time of the Vikings. You can get a very realistic impression of the living conditions in these bygone times.

Charm of Lofoten
Spend a leisurely day learning about the maritime history of the Lofoten Islands. Discover the architecture of the fishermen's dwellings, which today serve as popular holiday homes for visitors who want to take part in the region's many outdoor activities.
From the pier, embark your coach for a 30-minute drive to Flakstad Bay to explore the charming 18th-century red church. It is the second oldest church in Lofoten and built in the shape of a cross.
Then, you will get back to your coach for a scenic drive to Å. This village is an open-air museum, representing the Lofoten's fisheries and displays 150 year old coastal building environments. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious lunch before being free to discover the village at your own pace.
In the afternoon, you will take the direction of Sund to visit the interesting Fishery Museum and Smithy. The museum was originally established in 1964, in the idea of a unique and lively museum, depicting the history of boats and fishing equipment. You will be able to take a closer look at the blacksmith at work, perhaps creating a cormorant, an important fishermen's symbol. Discover various objects including boats, utensils from fishermen's homes and working boat engines, from the beginning of this century.

Lofoten on horseback
Saddle up for a leisurely horseback ride through the beautiful landscape of northern Norway. Situated in the middle of the Lofoten archipelago, the island of Gimsoya is a stunning mix of mountains, jagged peaks, towering cliffs and white-sand beaches.
From the pier, embark your coach for a 45-minutes drive to a rural horse farm surrounded by white-sand beaches that dominate the island's west coast. Upon arrival, meet your instructor for a safety briefing and information on the trail itself. You will get an helmet and meet your steed before heading out.
During your one-hour and a half horseback adventure you will experience the beauty of the Lofoten, enjoying the horse contact and its natural heat. During your ride, you will pass several historical monuments from ancient times, including a pagan temple, Viking-era graves and the residence of a Viking chieftain from more than 1,000 years ago. This residence is believed to have been the home of Tore Hjort, a Norwegian chieftain from Vågen in Hålogaland who was killed by the famous King Olav Tyrggvason in the late 10th century.
At the conclusion of the trail ride, you will return to the stable, enjoy a coffee break, and depart for your ship.
- All participants will be asked to sign a waiver. Helmets are provided and must be worn. During winter season, you must wear warm-thermal, water- and wind-proof clothes and flat shoes with rubber soles or boots. Ground can be dirty or muddy that is why we recommend you wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Purses and other large or baggy items cannot be carried on the horse as they may restrict your ability to ride. Small cameras are fine to bring as long as they are not hung around your neck. Please ask your guide about the best way to carry your belongings. The trail ride will have one instructor for every four guests for a maximum participation of 14 passengers. This tour is conducted in English only. Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult. Participants must weigh less than 110 kgs (243 lbs). Beginners are welcomed. This tour is not suitable for passengers with back problems or with limited physical abilities. This is a high activity tour that at times can be strenuous. Leknes by RIB boat
This excursion starts at the pier where you will be picked up and escorted to the RIB boat (a rigid-hulled inflatable buoyancy).
Your guide will give you winter equipment, both water and wind proof. Following a short introduction and briefing, you will sit astride a comfortable seat allowing everyone to enjoy the views. You will then start your exploration of the tranquil beauty of the Lofoten Islands in search of sea eagles.
As you set off with your experienced helmsman, you will whisk across the sparkling waters, to vertical cliffs rising from the water. You will pass the red fishing huts that line the water of small villages such as Ballstad, Mortsund, Steine and Ure. Then, you will enjoy a photo stop on the water, to observe sea eagles. Possessing a wing span of more than six feet (1.80 m), these birds of prey are an impressive sight. Fish will be used to attract them, to give you the chance to see one.
Afterwards you will return to the pier.

Self-guided visit of the Fjord Centre
Considered one of Norway’s most beautiful fjords, the Geirangerfjord will reveal itself between imposing mountains, majestic waterfalls, and farms perched on steep slopes, as well as through exhibitions at the Norwegian Fjord Centre.
From the charming village of Geiranger, a historic road, a feat of engineering built between 1881 and 1889, leads to the fjord. Along the way, discover Geiranger’s small octagonal church and stop at the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint for incredible photo opportunities.
At the Norwegian Fjord Centre, fascinating exhibitions show the strong connection between the fjord dwellers and their environment, from agriculture to the history of transport, fjord boats, and communication networks. The centre offers a fascinating insight into life on the inaccessible farms along the steep cliffs surrounding the fjord.

Mount Ulriken & Fantoft Stave Church
From the pier, board your local coach for a short drive to Ulriken cable car entrance.
From here, enjoy a five-minute ascent to the top of Mount Ulriken. The city of Bergen is proud of its cable car system, which ascends over 2,100 feet above the sea level in only few minutes. Its highest point is above the tree line, affording a 360-degree view. The view is breathtaking. On the top, refreshments and snacks are served while your guide give you a short brief. Then, you are free to go for a short hike, to take time for contemplation and photographs.
After descending back, get back to your local coach for a short transfer through the city, on the way to the new Fantoft Stave Church, rebuilt after the fire in 1992 that destroyed the old church from 1150. The new church is constructed exactly like the ones that were built in the Middle Ages, using timber from the Sognefjord area north of Bergen. Only 30 of these very typical churches remain nowadays in Norway, when they were at least 800 in the Middle Ages.
On your way back to the pier, enjoy a short city sightseeing.

Bryggen walking tour
Bergen is a city full of contrasts, a mixture of new and old side by side. This walking tour takes you along the Bergenhus fortress dating back to the Middle Ages with the old coronation hall and the tower of Rosenkranz.
Shortly after, reach Bryggen, a city composed of old Hanseatic merchant buildings which had been damaged in 1702, when a disastrous fire struck the area. After the fire, they were rebuilt to look as they had during the Middle Ages. The whole area is now protected and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guided tour will lead you up one of the narrow alleyways running between the rows of houses. Today, artists and craftsmen have moved in, and facing the harbour are restaurants and shops of various kinds. The Hanseates settled in Bergen in the middle of the 14th century. They had the monopoly on the trade with Northern Norway for nearly 300 years that was a barter trade: the Norwegians from the North part of the country brought their stock fish, dried cod, to Bergen and went back with grain, spices, textiles etc.
Discover St Mary's church from outside, the oldest stone building in town. In former days, it was called "the German church" because it was solely used by the Hanseatic merchants who have adorned the church over the centuries with several precious objects.
Thereafter, walk on to Schötstuene, a series of assembly rooms. The Schötstuene complex is comprised of four assembly rooms and two cookhouses, where the food was prepared and social life went on. You should not miss a visit to the kitchen, neither to the living quarters in the back!
Before returning to the harbour, you will visit the Bryggen museum, an archeological museum housing findings from the Middle Ages.

Mount Floyen hike
Your tour starts at the pier where you will meet your guide and walk to Fløibanen station.
From the lower station of Fløibanen, the ride takes approximately 8 minutes to the top of Mount Fløien at some 1,000 feet (320 m). On the way up, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Bergen and surroundings. Fløien hills are a very popular recreation area used by the locals all the year round.
The hiking tour starts on one of the many gravel roads, through slightly hilly woodland to the little, idyllic lake called Skomakerdiket, then uphill to join the main path, Blåmansveien. As you get higher, the view gets better! The fjord with a multitude of islands lies beneath you as well as the town, and far out to the West the North Sea.
Head up the Rundemansvegroad and, as you leave the trees behind, there is a wide view to all sides when reaching the highest point, Rundemanen, at some 1,800 feet.
After a well-deserved break, you will return to the Funicular station for the ride back, and join your ship after a 15-minute walk back.

Tromsø, the capital of the North is located on Troms, an island covered with forests. It is also called "the gateway to the Arctic", since it used to be the headquarter of seal and walrus hunters, and the starting point for several Arctic expeditions.
From the pier, board your coach for a tour of this charming city and proceed to the Science Centre of Northern Norway. Here, you will sit and lean back in the comfortable chairs of the planetarium to watch the beautiful film "Experience the Aurora". During the 25-minute show, you will learn everything about the illusive Northern Lights with most of the footage shot in the Tromsø region.
After the visit, depart to the Polar Museum. The museum is located in the old Custom House. It is closely linked with the Arctic Association which aims to preserve records from bygone times, when Tromsø was a major base for hunting and expeditions on a larger scale. The museum also shows a great part of the equipment, skis, tents etc. that the explorer Roald Amundsen used on his South Pole expedition.
Next, re-board your coach and drive to the Arctic Cathedral passing the famous Tromsø Bridge. The ultra-modern architecture of the cathedral symbolizes the immense strength of the ice pack in the Arctic Ocean. The interior is dominated by the beautiful stained glass-window covering the eastern wall, picturing "The Return of Christ". After the visit to the church, head back to the pier.

Norwegian tundra by husky sled
From the pier, you will board your coach for a half-hour transfer to the wilderness centre. Upon arrival, you will meet your guides and get your winter-weather gear before receiving a short safety briefing.
Sit back on the sled and relax for about 20 minutes as your musher guide leads the eight energetic dogs. Breathe in the fresh winter air as you enjoy a journey through the Arctic tundra, taking in the stunning views of the area’s towering cliffs and spectacular fjords.
Then, you will return to the centre to warm up with a coffee or tea while sitting in a traditional lavvu tent. You will listen to stories about local life from your guide. Finally, you will enjoy a guided tour of the centre before boarding your coach and returning to your ship.

Spend a wonderful time with one of Northern Norway's most iconic animals: the husky.
After travelling through the breathtaking snowy landscapes of the northern part of Norway, you will arrive in Breivikeidet, east of Tromso, with the Lyngen Alps as your backdrop. At base camp, you will be greeted by these sweet creatures that love to interact with people. It is truly a unique experience. After sharing a moment with the huskies, enjoy a delicious coffee break.

Snowshoeing to the Viking village
With snowshoes on your feet, in the heart of wild nature enveloped in its coat of snow, you will set off to explore Tonsviking, a charming medieval homestead dedicated to Viking history and the ancestral traditions of the people of the North.
In Tonsviking, in a place where time stands still, on a former sacred site, discover five structures that have been meticulously constructed using age-old Viking and Sami techniques.
The project, begun several decades ago by a master builder, is an ode to the craftsmanship and way of life of the people of the North. In the blacksmith's shop, discover metal and copper work, before immersing yourself in the Viking spirit with a tasting of home-made mead and a snack, in a majestic Viking hall.

Scenic Tromso by RIB boat
This excursion starts at the pier where you will be picked up and escorted to the RIB (rigid-hulled inflatable buoyancy) boat.
Following a short introduction, you will get your equipment (if needed depending on the weather) and briefing, you will sit astride a comfortable seat allowing everyone to enjoy the views. You will then start your exploration of local waterways while admiring stunning seascapes.
You will travel the sheltered waters of Tromso and hear stories from your guide about the history of the city, its people and the creatures native to these parts. You may have the opportunity to spot eagles flying overhead and harbour porpoises in the sea.

Sami camp discovery
From the pier, embark on a 1 ¼ hour journey by coach to Máze, a Sami village located on the outskirts of Alta.
The Sami’s roots in Arctic Europe trace back at least 5,000 years. Descendants of nomadic people, they moved depending on their country geopolitic and finished to be confined in the northern extremity of the country. They belong to the Finno-Ugric branch of the Uralic family, and are mostly represented in Lapland and adjacent areas of Northern Norway, Sweden and Finland. Learn about the vibrant culture of indigenous Norwegians during your visit.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your hosts, members of a reindeer-herding family. You will have the opportunity to climb on board a reindeer-pulled sled for a picturesque ride along a frozen river. Relax as you glide along to the sound of reindeer bells and snow crunching under hooves.
After your ride, return to the village, where you will be invited into a large traditional tent called a lavvu. Take a seat next to a roaring fire and taste traditional specialities while your hosts entertain you with stories of Sami traditions and modern life. Later, you will return to your ship.

Arctic landscapes by dogsledding
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 30-minute transfer to the Husky dog centre. Upon arrival, you will meet your guides and receive a short safety briefing.
Sled over the scenic Arctic landscapes while being pulled by a team of lively huskies. Relax as your experienced musher guides and the well-trained dogs negotiate the rugged terrain. You will breathe the fresh air, riding through the forests and along the Alta river.
At the end of your ride, you will return to the husky farm to warm yourself with a hot beverage while sitting in a traditional Sami lavvu (tent), listening to your guide’s tales of racing sled dogs. You will have an opportunity to spend time there and photograph the charming huskies before returning to your ship.

Snowshoes hiking & ice fishing
Try your hand at snowshoeing and ice fishing, two popular winter pastimes in Norway.
From the pier, embark on a 30-minute drive to your staging area, where you will meet your local guide and receive a short safety briefing. Fasten the bindings of your snowshoes and set out into the wintry tundra. You will breathe in the refreshing air and listen to the rhythmic crunching of the snow as you walk along the tree-lined trail. Winter walking is an excellent way to admire the Arctic landscape surrounding Alta.
Then, you will take a break by a frozen lake or river, and be initiated to the ice fishing. Ice fishing is one of the most popular winter activities in Norway, a country which counts thousands of lakes. Every year, enthousiasts of all ages bring their fishing rods and set off to find their own lake full of trout or char. You may cast a fishing line under the ice before being welcomed into a tent to relax by a warming fire. You will enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee or cocoa with a homemade pastry.

Journey to Polar Park
Travel across Norway’s scenic winter landscapes for a visit to the impressive Polar Park. Located at the 69° northern latitude, this reserve is the northernmost wildlife park in the world. The park is home to a large variety of Arctic mammals, including wolf, lynx, wolverine, musk oxen, elk, reindeer, mountain fox and badger.
From the pier, embark on a picturesque journey by coach from Narvik to the park. You will cross the 2,500-foot-long Rombak Bridge and continue along the Herjansfjord before heading inland through the birch tree forests of the Gratangs Valley.
At Polar Park, you will be able to walk along a 2½-mile-long asphalt path that will allow you to observe the animals in their enclosures. The living spaces are large—the park boasts the world’s biggest area-per-animal ratio—so be patient and keep watch for the inhabitants.

Arctic railway
Arctic Train transports you 43 kilometres through a desolate, wild and beautiful landscape along the Ofot line. The line stretches from Narvik in Nordland to Kiruna in Sweden and is Norway's most northerly railway. From the ice-blue fjord in Narvik to the bare mountains in Sweden, there are several historical events that form a dramatic backdrop for this excursion.
The construction of the Ofotbanen started at the end of the 19th century to ensure access to an ice-free export port for the huge iron ore deposits from northern Sweden. Itinerant workers, so-called "rallers" sought their fortune in what was referred to as Europe's "Klondyke", and at most over 5,000 people were involved in the construction of the track. As an export route for Europe's largest and most important iron ore deposits, the route was particularly important to control during the Second World War.

WWII in Northern Norway
Gain an in-depth understanding of Narvik's role in World War II during a visit to the War Museum and city cemetery. An important year-round, ice-free harbor with railway links to the rich iron ore mines of nearby Sweden, this northern port city was strategically vital to both the Germans and the Allies during the early days of the conflict. This culminated in the Battle of Narvik in April 1940-and the five-year Nazi occupation of the city.
Take a short drive to the Narvik War Museum, where its curator will guide you through the collection of photos and artifacts. You will also see a short film that focuses on the local events of World War II, as well as the universal issues related to war.
After browsing the exhibits, make a solemn visit to the city's cemetery, the final resting spot for the 34 Commonwealth soldiers who died during the Narvik campaign, before returning to your ship.in.

Husky dog-sledding experience
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 1½-hour transfer to Riksgransen on the Swedish border. On your way, learn about the Navvies who constructed the Ofotbanen railway, Norwegian cottage life and traditions as well as stories from WWII. Upon arrival, you will meet the dogs and receive a short safety briefing.
Sled over the scenic Arctic landscapes while being pulled by a team of lively huskies. Relax as your experienced musher guides and the well-trained dogs negotiate the rugged terrain. You will breathe the fresh air, riding through the magnificent landscapes.
At the end of your ride, you will return to the husky camp to warm yourself with a hot beverage before returning to your ship.

Henningsvaer & Lofotr Museum
From the pier, board your coach and proceed to Henningsvær. You will discover the everyday life of one of the most picturesque fishing villages in the Lofoten Islands, with its backdrop of mountain peaks. Until 1962, when Lofoten fisheries were at their peak, more than 6,000 fishermen used this as their base from January to April. Because of the unique light and beauty of the surrounding nature, artists find inspiration with these islands.
Continue your visit with the Lofotens House Gallery, which have North Norway’s largest collection of paintings from around the turn of the last century, a period considered as the Golden age of North Norwegian art. Here you will find the works of well-known Norwegian artists, like Otto Sinding, Gunnar Bergen, Thorolf Holmbo, etc.
Then, proceed to Borg, and explore the Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg, the site of the ancient Viking farm that was discovered by a farmer plowing his land in the early 1980’s. You will even be able to visit the reconstructed Longhouse. It has been proven that the Lofoten Islands were a centre of power already at the time of the Vikings. You can get a very realistic impression of the living conditions in these bygone times.

Charm of Lofoten
Spend a leisurely day learning about the maritime history of the Lofoten Islands. Discover the architecture of the fishermen's dwellings, which today serve as popular holiday homes for visitors who want to take part in the region's many outdoor activities.
From the pier, embark your coach for a 30-minute drive to Flakstad Bay to explore the charming 18th-century red church. It is the second oldest church in Lofoten and built in the shape of a cross.
Then, you will get back to your coach for a scenic drive to Å. This village is an open-air museum, representing the Lofoten's fisheries and displays 150 year old coastal building environments. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious lunch before being free to discover the village at your own pace.
In the afternoon, you will take the direction of Sund to visit the interesting Fishery Museum and Smithy. The museum was originally established in 1964, in the idea of a unique and lively museum, depicting the history of boats and fishing equipment. You will be able to take a closer look at the blacksmith at work, perhaps creating a cormorant, an important fishermen's symbol. Discover various objects including boats, utensils from fishermen's homes and working boat engines, from the beginning of this century.

Lofoten on horseback
Saddle up for a leisurely horseback ride through the beautiful landscape of northern Norway. Situated in the middle of the Lofoten archipelago, the island of Gimsoya is a stunning mix of mountains, jagged peaks, towering cliffs and white-sand beaches.
From the pier, embark your coach for a 45-minutes drive to a rural horse farm surrounded by white-sand beaches that dominate the island's west coast. Upon arrival, meet your instructor for a safety briefing and information on the trail itself. You will get an helmet and meet your steed before heading out.
During your one-hour and a half horseback adventure you will experience the beauty of the Lofoten, enjoying the horse contact and its natural heat. During your ride, you will pass several historical monuments from ancient times, including a pagan temple, Viking-era graves and the residence of a Viking chieftain from more than 1,000 years ago. This residence is believed to have been the home of Tore Hjort, a Norwegian chieftain from Vågen in Hålogaland who was killed by the famous King Olav Tyrggvason in the late 10th century.
At the conclusion of the trail ride, you will return to the stable, enjoy a coffee break, and depart for your ship.

Leknes by RIB boat
This excursion starts at the pier where you will be picked up and escorted to the RIB boat (a rigid-hulled inflatable buoyancy).
Your guide will give you winter equipment, both water and wind proof. Following a short introduction and briefing, you will sit astride a comfortable seat allowing everyone to enjoy the views. You will then start your exploration of the tranquil beauty of the Lofoten Islands in search of sea eagles.
As you set off with your experienced helmsman, you will whisk across the sparkling waters, to vertical cliffs rising from the water. You will pass the red fishing huts that line the water of small villages such as Ballstad, Mortsund, Steine and Ure. Then, you will enjoy a photo stop on the water, to observe sea eagles. Possessing a wing span of more than six feet (1.80 m), these birds of prey are an impressive sight. Fish will be used to attract them, to give you the chance to see one.
Afterwards you will return to the pier.

Self-guided visit of the Fjord Centre
Considered one of Norway’s most beautiful fjords, the Geirangerfjord will reveal itself between imposing mountains, majestic waterfalls, and farms perched on steep slopes, as well as through exhibitions at the Norwegian Fjord Centre.
From the charming village of Geiranger, a historic road, a feat of engineering built between 1881 and 1889, leads to the fjord. Along the way, discover Geiranger’s small octagonal church and stop at the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint for incredible photo opportunities.

Mount Ulriken & Fantoft Stave Church
From the pier, board your local coach for a short drive to Ulriken cable car entrance.
From here, enjoy a five-minute ascent to the top of Mount Ulriken. The city of Bergen is proud of its cable car system, which ascends over 2,100 feet above the sea level in only few minutes. Its highest point is above the tree line, affording a 360-degree view. The view is breathtaking. On the top, refreshments and snacks are served while your guide give you a short brief. Then, you are free to go for a short hike, to take time for contemplation and photographs.
After descending back, get back to your local coach for a short transfer through the city, on the way to the new Fantoft Stave Church, rebuilt after the fire in 1992 that destroyed the old church from 1150. The new church is constructed exactly like the ones that were built in the Middle Ages, using timber from the Sognefjord area north of Bergen. Only 30 of these very typical churches remain nowadays in Norway, when they were at least 800 in the Middle Ages.
On your way back to the pier, enjoy a short city sightseeing.

Bryggen walking tour
Bergen is a city full of contrasts, a mixture of new and old side by side. This walking tour takes you along the Bergenhus fortress dating back to the Middle Ages with the old coronation hall and the tower of Rosenkranz.
Shortly after, reach Bryggen, a city composed of old Hanseatic merchant buildings which had been damaged in 1702, when a disastrous fire struck the area. After the fire, they were rebuilt to look as they had during the Middle Ages. The whole area is now protected and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guided tour will lead you up one of the narrow alleyways running between the rows of houses. Today, artists and craftsmen have moved in, and facing the harbour are restaurants and shops of various kinds. The Hanseates settled in Bergen in the middle of the 14th century. They had the monopoly on the trade with Northern Norway for nearly 300 years that was a barter trade: the Norwegians from the North part of the country brought their stock fish, dried cod, to Bergen and went back with grain, spices, textiles etc.
Discover St Mary's church from outside, the oldest stone building in town. In former days, it was called "the German church" because it was solely used by the Hanseatic merchants who have adorned the church over the centuries with several precious objects.
Thereafter, walk on to Schötstuene, a series of assembly rooms. The Schötstuene complex is comprised of four assembly rooms and two cookhouses, where the food was prepared and social life went on. You should not miss a visit to the kitchen, neither to the living quarters in the back!
Before returning to the harbour, you will visit the Bryggen museum, an archeological museum housing findings from the Middle Ages.

Mount Floyen hike
Your tour starts at the pier where you will meet your guide and walk to Fløibanen station.
From the lower station of Fløibanen, the ride takes approximately 8 minutes to the top of Mount Fløien at some 1,000 feet (320 m). On the way up, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Bergen and surroundings. Fløien hills are a very popular recreation area used by the locals all the year round.
The hiking tour starts on one of the many gravel roads, through slightly hilly woodland to the little, idyllic lake called Skomakerdiket, then uphill to join the main path, Blåmansveien. As you get higher, the view gets better! The fjord with a multitude of islands lies beneath you as well as the town, and far out to the West the North Sea.
Head up the Rundemansvegroad and, as you leave the trees behind, there is a wide view to all sides when reaching the highest point, Rundemanen, at some 1,800 feet.
After a well-deserved break, you will return to the Funicular station for the ride back, and join your ship after a 15-minute walk back.

After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local representative.
You will start your day with a panoramic tour of Copenhagen during which you will have the opportunity to grasp the soul of this charming, colorful city crisscrossed by canals. You will have the chance to discover typical Hygge spots which is a Scandinavian art of living based on well-being, slow life, and simple pleasures of daily life. There even exists a Hygge aesthetic that manifests through design and decoration, making Danish interiors as warm as possible.
You will immortalize the famous Little Mermaid. This work of art, created by sculptor Edvard Eriksen in 1913, is a true artistic masterpiece blending delicacy and emotion. Her graceful silhouette is perched on a rock in the city's harbor, gazing out towards the horizon.
