PONANT Aktivitäten
Tauchen & erster Tauchgang

There are also activities ashore to prolong the experience for your Kid Explorers such as walks and treasure hunts .

Maud Fontenoy Foundation
Since 2008, the Maud Fontenoy Foundation has been operating in France and internationally to protect our oceans. We organise educational activities focused on the environment for the younger generation and general public, with support from scientific partners and the French Ministry of National Education. The latter has made us responsible for its Sea Education programme and relaunch of the Sea Classes initiative. Our aim is both ecological and social: to protect the ocean and save people. We start from a strong principle that protecting the environment, particularly the ocean, is a humanitarian issue that affects all mankind, without exception. For us, the oceans are a powerful force, a potential for the future. Every year, 700,000 children benefit from our programmes.

Behind the fortifications of the island of Ortygia, old Syracuse spreads out in winding streets, creeping between ancient ruins and baroque beauties. Walking here is like a daydream, punctuated by the gentle lapping of the nearby sea, which licks at the thousand-year-old stones.
Founded by the Greeks in 734 BC, Syracuse was one of the most grandiose cities in the Mediterranean for a long time. Successive conquests — Roman, Byzantine, North African, Norman, etc. — left many traces on the city, permeating everything from the architecture to the art, via the cuisine. It is surely this entanglement of civilisations that gives Ortygia, the historic heart of the city, this particular appearance, with omnipresent myths.
Experience it for yourself in the bustling Piazza Pancali, where the dance of the café waiters and the cars soon make way for the sublime ruins of the Temple of Apollo, emerging calm and unalterable from the 6th century BC.
Following the Corso Matteotti shopping street, you will come out on the Piazza Archimède and its famous Fountain of Diana. Further on, the streets are embellished with small churches and graceful palazzos right up to the Piazza Duomo and its spectacular cathedral. This is built on the ruins of a Greek temple devoted to the goddess Athena and it is still possible to admire its 12 perfectly preserved doric columns inside, as well as a precious picture by painter Antonello da Messina.
The wonder will continue as you find yourself face to face with the Fountain of Arethusa. In Greek mythology, the nymph Arethusa was changed into an underground spring by the goddess Diana. This freshwater spring, which surfaces only ten metres away from the Adriatic Sea, inspired Cicero, Pindar, Virgil and many other big names.
Your discovery of Ortygia will finish with one of Sicily’s most pleasant aspects: its cuisine. Stop in a café and taste some of the region’s most famous dishes.

With its wild and lush vegetation, villas enveloped by bougainvillea, hotel with timeless charm and turquoise coves, Monte Argentario looks like paradise. However, it is perhaps in exploring its slopes that you will get the best measure of the area. The Spanish knew what they were doing here and, during their domination, erected forts whose ramparts are like miradors with a breathtaking panorama.
Start your hike and past the opulent villas to Borgo, an old village laden with history. Then, walk along a pleasant path to reach the Rocca Spagnola. The entrance bears the impressive emblem of the State of the Presidi, which reigned over this part of Tuscany in the 16th century. The fortified buildings they constructed here, including watch towers and military ramparts, are visible throughout Monte Argentario.
On the cliff face, overlooking the beautiful Ansedonia gulf, Forte Stella can be reached by a steep uphill walk, amply rewarded by unobstructed views. Then, finish your visit wandering the streets of Porto Ercole, a little-known seaside resort and point of reference for aesthetes charmed by its gentleness and calm.

The fragrances of juicy fruits and saffron mix with salty air, and the pine forest makes way for a rocky and wild sea front, where the fish — and therefore the fishermen — are legion. Set off to meet them, and discover the traditions and delicacies of this region with its profound connections to the sea.
Arriving at the small ports of Porto Ercole or Porto Santo Stefano, it is not uncommon to come across old sea dogs, busy patching up their fishing nets. However, it is near Orbetello Lagoon, teeming with sought-after fish, that you will really be able to dive into the region’s history and fishing traditions.
Here, the Pescatori district and its fishermen are as much guardians of memory as they are the representatives of the knowledge passed on from fathers to sons. Among other things, families here perpetuate the delicious art of bottarga (salted, cured fish roe) production.
In the centre of Orbetello, the headquarters of the Pescatori, the Slow Food Presidia, perfectly illustrate the local inhabitants’ generosity and love of good food. Every day, dishes using local fish and vegetables from nearby land are cooked there. You will be able to taste these ultra-fresh and refined creations, accompanied by white wine from the region, after visiting the village and its pretty little streets.
This excursion involves walking 2 km (1.2 miles) mainly flat surfaces. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and protect yourself from the sun. A minimum of 30 participants is necessary for this visit, and a maximum of 45 persons may take part. The tasting is included in the visit.

Today, it is a classy resort-village. Portofino's miniscule bay is neatly packed with pricey yachts, common boats and, as a vestige of its past, some fishing boats.
From the pier, you will meet your local guide and start your panoramic walking tour. If you don't bring your camera to Portofino, you will regret it. The town is striking with its brightly colored antique buildings hovering over sparkling blue water. And the surrounding luxuriant green hillsides of the Portofino Promontory are equally stunning.
Your walk heads up to the right as you face the harbour. You will enjoy a path through one of the largest concentrations of flora and fauna in the Mediterranean. For some fantastic views of the entire bay and the Tigullian Gulf, you will walk up the hill to the Church of San Giorgio. Perched high above the town, this church contains relics of St. George brought over by crusaders from the Holy Land. From here you will walk to another great lookout point at the Punto del Capo, the Portofino lighthouse.
Afterward, you will take the way back to the pier.

Portoferraio was founded by the Romans (with the name of Fabricia) on a pre-existing Tuscan settlement. After the fall of Rome, the town was destroyed by the buccaneers and rebuilt in the 7th century under the name of Ferraia. In 1442 the Saracens destroyed it and in the 16th century, the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo I of the Medici Family ordered the construction of imposing fortifications. The town was named Cosmopoli after him. Finally, under the reign of the Lorena Family, the name Ferraia was reestabilished and changed into the present name of Portoferraio.
Portoferraio is today the main town of Elba island. Its historical centre is a labyrinth of small alleys and many are the monuments and churches not to be missed. After a long uphill walk you will have beautiful views of the port. You will also see Piazza della Repubblica, where you will admire the Town Hall, the former Biscotteria Palace, where ship-biscuits were made for the crews of galleys. A stroll along the promenade with nice shops and sailing boats is also included.

Vorreservierung ab zwei Monaten bis sieben Tage vor Beginn der Kreuzfahrt direkt bei Ihrem PONANT Reiseberater oder über Ihr Reisebüro, je nach Verfügbarkeit.Often associated with Napoleon’s exile, the island of Elba can nonetheless boast many other assets. Its beaches of crystal-clear water and its fragrant Mediterranean scrubland form sunny scenery, sometimes edged with generous vines. Discover this delicious decor along the aptly named Porto Azzurro and the vineyard of the Arrighi family.
Located between Corsica and Tuscany, the island of Elba, the largest in the archipelago, has millennial history, often outshined by a famous inhabitant. To find its trace, sometimes you have to take a step sideways and head for the heights. And this is exactly what is offered in Porto Azzurro, a small seaside resort on the east coast of the island, which is perfectly suited to wandering around and has viewpoints stretching over its bright bay, like the famous San Giacomo Fort.
You will then leave the liveliness of the town behind as you set off to discover the vines of the Arrighi farm. Here you will meet Antonio, 3rd generation at the head of the family farm, who now organises walks in the vineyards, with the idea of tasting the wine where it is created.
A real enthusiast, he will also tell you about the island’s winemaking history and traditions. From the Etruscans’ wine in amphora to the golden age of grape production — until the beginning of the 1900s, the island was Tuscany’s main producer thanks to the optimal climatic conditions provided by the sea — you will discover Elba’s rich history, as well as its future, with the “marine wines”, a secret technique discovered among the neighbours of the Aegean Sea.

Finally, go back down to the city and enjoy a guided tour of this small Corsican Saint-Tropez, exploring the old streets and tasting a local snack, leading to the port.

Formerly called “Conca d’oro” (golden shell) by Pascal Paoli, it is now reputed for its very nice wines.
Along the drive, you will admire panoramic views, the St Florent’s gulf and the Patrimonio’s vineyards on one side, and the Tyrrhenian Sea and Biguglia’s pond on the other side. You will pass along the Biguglia’s pond, the San Stefano pass, through Oletta and its multicoloured houses.
Bastia is considered as the main town of northern Corsica but also the biggest commercial port of the island. When the Genoese occupied Corsica, Bastia was their capital because of its wealth. Indeed, the island had immense and impressive plantations of vines, olives and chestnut trees.
Start your exploration of the city with your guide. First, discover the square St Nicolas, the meeting point of all the population. Then, enjoy a nice guided stroll around Terra Vecchia, the old quarter of the city, to the St Jean Baptiste Church, famous for its twin campaniles. While walking, you will pass by some Bastia’s charming views: little chapels, baroque style orotarios like the Oratoire St Roch and even get a glimpse of the flamboyant Oratoire de l’Immaculée Conception, famous for its colourful interior.
Your tour takes you through the Terra Nova, which includes the citadel, with the Place du Donjon, and the impressive 14th century Palais des Gouverneurs.
Then, re-board your coach and enjoy the panoramic drive to Patrimonio. In 1968, Patrimonio was established as the first Corsican wine with a controlled designation of origin (AOC). Today, Corsica has nine different AOC microregions, even if the entire Corsica represents the Vin de Corse AOC. Upon arrival, you will discover a family winery. The owner or one of his employees will welcome you to the cellars and present you his production. A wine tasting will complete this visit.

This picturesque experience will allow you to discover in a unique way the beauty of natural sites and the charm Corsica.
After receiving your safety instructions, leave the dock to begin your adventure. In the middle of the 20th century, the Agriates were a prosper agriculture region. Contrary to what one might think, the desert of Agriates fed the north of Corsica for centuries, with cultivations taking advantage of its 32 springs and 27 hidden fountains. The term “desert” can therefore be explained, not by its aridity, but by the exodus that followed the World War I. Many young Corsicans lost their lives during the war, leaving the land orphaned. During your scenic journey, you will discover the beauty of the landscapes from several beautiful points of view. Following the bumpy tracks of the desert, reach a superb panorama of the peaks of Patrimonio and the two seas, hugging the northern part of Corsica.
Then, stop in a winery located in Poggio-d'Oletta in Corsica, the Clos Clementi. These twelve hectares of vines, forming a single plot, are classified in AOC Patrimonio. Planted with «usu anticu» according to the orientation of the sun and the wind, these noble grape varieties of the appellation feed on a soil with predominantly clay-limestone and enjoy an exceptional microclimate. Enjoy a tasting in this family estate and learn more about the know-how that has been passed down from generation to generation since 1936.
Continue your scenic drive before rejoining the pier.

The long Cap Corse peninsula was cut off from the rest of the island until the end of the 19th century, when Napoleon III ordered the carriage road to be rebuilt. It has kept its very typical landscapes, thus earning it the nickname “the island within the island”.
You will stop at Erbalunga, a charming marina with hotels and restaurants sitting right on the water, and then cross the seaside villages of Sisco, Pietracorbara and Porticciolo. You will then leave the east slope to travel into the mountain towards Luri, and reach the western coast of Cap Corse in Pino. From there, admire the views over the green hills and the sea.

Mdina, Malta’s Old Capital, was used as a filming location for the movie Black Eagle, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, and for the Game of Thrones series. With its extraordinary mix of medieval and Baroque architecture, Mdina is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city.
You will then proceed to a local boutique winery, where wine is produced on an estate comprising four hectares of terraced vineyards. It was built with weathered limestone blocks that perfectly blend old-world charm with practical, modern architectural touches. About 15,000 vines are planted on this estate, along with around 200 olive trees plus fig trees, carob trees, and other indigenous Maltese flora. After the visit, you will have the opportunity to taste three fine wines.
This will be followed by a fine meal at a local gourmet restaurant.
You will then be transferred to the port in time for embarkation onboard your ship.
