Board your coach and drive to the town center of Catania. Stop in a local pasticceria to taste an "arancino". A common street food in Sicily, composed of a fried rice ball with various fillings such as cheese, meats, and vegetables. While a favorite in Italy, the true "arancini" are Sicilian, and after trying one (or two), you will discover why they are so well loved.
After your first taste of Sicily, walk along Via Etnea, the main street of Catania, to reach the fish market. On the way you will see the Catania Cathedral and the historical center of the town. The ancient street market is always a wonderful cacophony of exotic sights and sounds, with locals selling everything from blood oranges to cuttlefish. Watch tuna and swordfish being peddled by the local fish mongers and sample aged sheep cheeses and cured meats. You will have free time to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of this magical market that is unlike any other in the world.
After the market, walk a few blocks to a nearby patisserie for a tasting of a delicious Sicilian-style cannoli crafted by a local Sicilian pastry master. This classic dessert consists of tube-shaped, fried pastry dough filled with sweet, creamy ricotta cheese and then rolled with pistachios or candied fruits to finish.
Finally, you will walk back to your coach and return to your ship.

From the pier, you will be transferred by coach to the ancient Greek town of Taormina, a 30-minute drive.
Called Tauromenium in ancient times, Taormina clings to the side of Mount Tauro and offers superb views, splashed with the vibrant colours of bougainvillea and oleanders, of the Mediterranean Sea, Isola Bella and a snow-capped Etna in the background.
A maze of narrow streets, stairs and tiny squares, Taormina has attracted many civilisations over the centuries. It is home to theatres and a gymnasium from the Greek period, an Odeon and baths from Roman times, buildings blending Arab and Norman cultures, traces of Byzantine, and villas belonging to European aristocracy in the 18th and 19th centuries.
You will start your excursion with a visit on foot to the historic centre. You will cross the famous Corso Umberto to discover numerous monuments from several eras, and admire Porta Catania, the Cathedral, Piazza IX Aprile and Palazzo Corvaja.
You will then arrive at Teatro Antico, a theatre built by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC, and almost completely rebuilt by the Romans who created a gladiatorial arena. The theatre is the second largest in Sicily after the one in Syracuse. Due to its size and acoustic quality the theatre is still used to host festivals and concerts. Seated on the stone terraces, the audience can enjoy the concert while admiring a breath-taking panoramic view of the sea, Mount Tauro and Etna.

From the pier, begin your tour with a walk through the town of Lipari, main city of the Aeolian Islands. The pastel-coloured houses of this little port contrast with the rugged and typically Mediterranean landscape that can be seen in the rest of the island.
A one-and-fifteen-hour scenic drive will give you the opportunity to discover this volcanic island and enjoy some stunning panoramas, including the Quattrocchi viewpoint, where you will admire the volcanic peaks of Jacopo and Perciato, against a backdrop of Vulcano Island, one of the most iconic island of the Aeolian archipelago.
In a local pizzeria, the owner will show you how to make this world famous national dish and give you the chance to realise your own pizza and personalise it with your favourite ingredients. Finally, you will taste your tailor-made pizza, accompanied with some wine and other Aeolian delicacies. During your stay at the pizzeria, you will also enjoy some local folk music.
After the tasting, you will re-embark your coach for the drive back to the pier.

Lipari is the largest and most populated of the Aeolian Islands. Famous since olden times for its obsidian quarries, the town and port are dominated by a citadel, testimony to the archipelago’s strategic importance in the past.
Leaving from the port by coach you will take a tour of the island. Your first stop stop is the Quattrocchi viewpoint, one of the archipelago’s most striking panoramas. Here you can admire the volcanic peaks of Jacopo and Perciato, against a backdrop of Vulcano Island. There are also other good spots to see the island of Salina, the pumice stone quarries and the Rocche Rosse obsidian flow.
The coach then heads to the centre of Lipari where your excursion will continue on foot. Lipari’s historic centre is dominated by a Castle built on the promontory. Its construction dates back to ancient times, with a tower forming part of Greek fortifications of the 4th and 5th centuries BC, medieval towers from the 13th century, and surrounding walls from the Spanish period. Inside there are numerous archaeological remains as well as the Norman Cathedral Saint Bartolomeo (only outside visit) dating from 1084 and which has a Baroque facade. On the sides, you will notice the ruins of a Norman Abbey. You will also visit the Aeolian Archaeological Museum revealing the evolution of the islands in the active volcano system. You can go into the “classic” section where objects from Lipari and the other islands, from prehistoric times to the Greek and Roman periods, are presented.

After disembarking, you will board your coach to a scenic 90-minute drive to Pompeii, located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Founded in the 6th century BC, it counted approximately 20,000 inhabitants in 79. That year, a volcanic eruption completely buried the flourishing cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabies. Forgotten during 1,600 years, it was rediscovered by chance to become today one of the florets of archaeology and an extraordinary testimony of the Roman Empire.
You will enter the site by the Porta Marina. Similar to a bastion, facing west, it is the most imposing of the seven gates of Pompeii together with Porta Ercolano. The ring of walls, built in the 6th century BC and still visible today, is over 3,200-metre long. Arriving inside the city, you will first discover the administrative buildings located on the main square. The more recent has kept its marble floor, and its eastern hall might have been the meeting room for the decurions (administrators), and its central hall might be used for the tabularium (legal archive).
Next, opening onto via dell’Abbondanza, is the Comitium, an open-air hall where the populus was summoned to exercise their political-administrative rights. It held the administrators, who presided over the assemblies and supervised the voting procedures. You will proceed by the Macellum. The building, which was the city's main market, dates from the 2nd century BC and underwent subsequent renovations. You will also admire the Basilica dedicated to administering justice and for business negotiations. Passing by the merchant streets you will cross the Forum baths or public baths that where divided in different sections. They were inexpensive and heavily used: bath time was apparently in the early afternoon. You will enter some remarkable villas, modest homes and explore ancient baths, temples, theatres, markets and forum.
After your visit, enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant. Then, you will re-board your coach and return to your ship.

From the pier, you will board a motor launch to reach the astonishing and colourful Grotta dello Smeraldo (the Emerald grotto) not far from the Amalfi centre. Enjoy the beauty of the Amalfi coast by cruising to the grotto and once there, on board local boats, experience the emotion of such a suggestive natural spot with its shining emerald green shades.
Discovered in 1932, explorers found a unique cave formation stretching 30 metres (100 feet) high by 60 metres (200 feet) wide, hidden along the coastline. The most fascinating aspect of this cave is the underwater entrance 12 metres (30 feet) deep that allows the sunlight to enter the cave, creating a luminescent Emerald Glow.
At the end of the visit, your launch will drive you back to Amalfi to drop you off in the main square where you will visit the impressive Cathedral of the town and spend some time to browse around and taste local specialities like the Limoncello Liquor.

From the pier, it will take a few minutes walk to reach your local boat. You will enjoy a circumnavigation of Ponza, starting from the port, which was restored on the Roman ruins at the beginning of 1772 and completed in 1793, and continuing towards Madonna’s Rocks and the Guard’s Lighthouse. Here at the southernmost tip of the island, you will have an amazing view of the archipelago.
Next, discover the iconic Chiaia de Luna. Formally a Greek port, this small beach is protected from the winds by a tuff wall, a natural barrier created from consolidated volcanic ash. Nearby is White Cape’s beach with its famous tunnel, excavated by the Romans. Then you will go by Cala Feola, a bay with natural swimming pools.
Cruising alongside the isle of Gavi, admire what is considered the island’s most beautiful sight, the natural Arch. It is believed that if you make a wish as you pass under the Arch, your wish will come true. With more views of sky, island and sea, proceed towards Cala d’Inferno, known for its heart-shaped rock.
Afterwards, you will return to the pier, passing the famous Frontone Beach along the way.

You will meet your guide at the pier and start with a short introduction about Ponza and its area. You will then walk to the pick-up point and board your private minibus.
Your first stop will be a panoramic spot overlooking Chiaia di Luna, a small beach that has a history as a Greek port. It is one of the most known and beautiful coves of the island. You will continue and admire the splendid Palmarola, another Pontine Island with amazing rock and sea colours. You will then come to the village of Le Forna that still maintains the typical look of Mediterranean villages with low and colourful houses.
After this, you will arrive at the north end of the island where you can have a breathtaking view over the entire eastern side of the harbour in the background. Before returning to the pier, you will pass by the village of Santa Maria, the smaller part of Ponza, but also very picturesque and undoubtedly worthwhile to be seen.
Here, you will stop and start walking to the historical centre, discovering the charm of Ponza. Your memorable walk of approximately one hour concludes at the pier. If you wish to remain in town, you may return to your ship later on your own.

From the pier, board your wheel train and drive up to the oldest part of Bonifacio. En-route, you will see the Bosco quarter with the St. Francis convent and the cemetery dedicated to the mariners with mausoleums displaying a jumble of architectural styles. On a clear day you might also enjoy a panoramic view on Corsica's closest neighbour: the Italian island of Sardinia. Then pass the church St Dominique, a rare example of Corsican gothic architecture, built in 1270, most probably by the Templars. Following the orientation by mini-tram, continue your visit of Bonifacio on foot through tiny, narrow streets bordered with high houses. Pass the church of St. Marie Majeure, with its mixture of Romanesque and Baroque styles dated from 14th century. The excursion will take you through the heart of the historical part of town to the Two Emperors street where Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles V spent a few days, the Place d'Armes, the Jardin des Vestiges and then to the old market where there is a viewpoint over the 230 ft. cliffs on top of which Bonifacio has been built! Stroll through the Porte de Gênes, former only entrance of the citadel, reach the Chapel St Roch built on the spot where the last plague victim died in 1528. Either you will return to the ship with your guide or either you will continue to explore the town on your own.

From the pier, board your local boat for a cruise along the coast of Bonifacio to enjoy a panoramic view of the citadel and upper town. The buildings atop the sheer limestone cliffs look as though they are about to topple into the sea.
You will start your exploration with the marine caves which are home to numerous birds including falcons, puffins and swifts. Exiting the harbour via the inlet, you will discover the ramparts which encircle the old city.
After passing the limestone cliffs, you will reach the Sdragonatu marine cave (dragon’s cave). Its roof is pierced by a fissure in the shape of a map of Corsica.
Then, continue to the Lavezzi Islands, a marine wildlife and plants sanctuary which make up one of Corsica’s two marine reserves. These uninhabited barren islands of granite rock lie seven miles south-east of Bonifacio, seemingly adrift on a turquoise-emerald sea, whose colour varies with the sky.
You will enjoy one hour of free time to swim, to relax on the beach or to walk around. This island houses also numerous paths to discover different islets and coves. The island is home to several rare species of wild flowers, including the yellow horned poppy and white sea daffodil, and was declared a nature reserve in 1982.
On the way back, you will pass Cavallo Island and Pointe de Sperone, before cruising along the calanques and cliffs to the Bonifacio marina.

From the pier, start your half-day tour around the island of Elba.
Board your coach for a 30-minute drive to Porto Azzurro. You will be able to discover the town with your guide but also on your own during some free time. Porto Azzurro is one of the most picturesque and relaxing seaside resorts on Elba. Situated along a deep inlet on the eastern side of the island, Porto Azzurro is dominated by the early 17th century star-shaped Fort of San Giacomo, or “Forte Longone”.
Re-board your coach for a 30-minute ride to the Villa San Martino, the former summer residence of French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Although Napoleon’s exile on Elba was brief, he left behind a considerable cultural and historical heritage. To escape the summer heat, the Emperor Napoleon chose a summer residence amidst the woods of Colle San Martino. Originally a modest country farmhouse, it was remodeled into a larger residence. The furnishings of that time are interesting as is the Egyptian room with frescoes depicting Egypt’s countryside and false granite columns covered with hieroglyphics.
In 1851, after Napoleon’s death, Anatolio Demidoff, a Russian nobleman married to Mathilde Bonaparte, ordered the construction of the neoclassic style gallery which now hosts various Napoleonic memorabilia.
The park is home to many plants among which the Hackberry, which is said to have been planted by the Emperor himself.
Finally, you will return to your coach and drive back to your ship.

From the pier, board a private coach for the scenic 45-minute drive along the spectacular Amalfi Coast to Positano. The narrow road winds along rocky seaside cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the Italian Riviera. Marvel at the rocks rising from the sea and keep an eye out for the small boats in sheltered sandy coves that look like brightly-coloured toys from above.
Upon arrival in the Positano minibus parking, a short walk will lead you to the city’s centre. Following a brief introductory tour, continue exploring on your own or browse the designer boutiques, souvenir shops and art galleries found along the main street and some narrow alleys.
Once a small fishing village, Positano is now the star attraction of the entire Amalfi coast. White Moorish style houses cling to the slopes around a small, sparkling bay. A 90-minute visit will allow you to take in the unique setting and special ambience of Positano. Located a short distance south of Positano, the hotel takes its name from a cliff-side chapel. Entrance to the hotel is by elevator. Here, in this ultimate secluded spot frequented by the most discerning clientele, a three-course gastronomic lunch awaits you. After lunch, some free time is allotted to look around this romantic site and take in the breathtaking vistas.
