Kid Explorers
PONANT has joined forces with the Maud Fontenoy Foundation to run its Kid Explorers children’s club.
As part of its commitment to safeguarding the oceans, during your cruise PONANT offers an activity programme for children aged 4 to 13 years old to familiarise them with issues related to protecting our oceans. We have special educational kits, activity sheets and themed videos all provided by the Foundation.
Every day a team of activity leaders organises creative activities (crafts, painting, etc.), fun educational workshops, board games, introduction to meditation sessions and more, as well as activities specific to the cruise itinerary and number of participants. There are also activities ashore to prolong the experience for your Kid Explorers such as walks, treasure hunts and swimming.
The activity programme is available every day up to 9.30pm (and as an exception until 10.30pm on gala evenings). To best meet your needs, the schedule is adapted to fit in with your cruise programme. For more information, contact the team organising the activities.
Activity schedules are posted daily in the logbook.
Every child receives a welcome kit with gifts enclosed.
-------------------------------
Activities will depend on the number and age of the children who register and the weather conditions.
Parents or guardians must read the ‘General information on the PONANT Kid Explorers Club’ and sign a form authorising the Kid Explorers Club to look after their child on board and for outings ashore.

Maud Fontenoy Foundation
Since 2008, the Maud Fontenoy Foundation has been operating in France and internationally to protect our oceans. We organise educational activities focused on the environment for the younger generation and general public, with support from scientific partners and the French Ministry of National Education. The latter has made us responsible for its Sea Education programme and relaunch of the Sea Classes initiative. Our aim is both ecological and social: to protect the ocean and save people. We start from a strong principle that protecting the environment, particularly the ocean, is a humanitarian issue that affects all mankind, without exception. For us, the oceans are a powerful force, a potential for the future. Every year, 700,000 children benefit from our programmes.

During this tour, you will admire the Corsica’s main appeal: its scenery, passing by the winding road from one picturesque village to another.
From the pier, you will board your coach and start your discovery of the hinterland of the Balagne region. You will travel along a scenic road to Lunghignano, with a stop for a visit of a donkey-driven olive oil mill complete with an olive oil tasting.
Onward enjoy the views from Col de Salvi and Cateri, with its flowered balconies, and overall from Sant Antoninu perched on the top of the hill, where you will have a stop.
Drive down through Lavatoggio and Lumio before returning to Calvi.
Gesamtpreis inkl. Steuern- und Gebühren : € 65
From the pier, meet your guide and start your walking exploration along the town's narrow lane and the ancient ramparts.
This tour will give you the opportunity to learn more about Calvi's history, from its beginning as a fishing village to its century as a Genoese stronghold, until its current status as a picturesque vacation getaway.
Follow your guide to the entrance of the citadel, perched on a rocky hill overlooking the port. Walk through the drawbridge and stop to enjoy the panoramic view on the red rooftops and the crystal-clear sea. You will continue to the Place d'Armes and then to the Cathedral Saint Jean Baptist, set at the highest point of the promontory. The cathedral founded in the 13th century was partially destroyed during the Turkish siege in 1553, and rebuilt in a form of Greek cross.
Your walk will then take you to the home of Calvi's most famous resident, Christopher Colombus who is believed to be born in Calvi. After viewing the exterior of this fabled building, pass the 13th century Caserne Sampiero, formerly the Governor's palace which now serves as military barracks.
Make your way to the Oratoire Saint Antoine where you can admire the Italian fresco, then stroll along the city's ramparts and wander through the lower town. A bustling section of the town sitting at a foot of the ramparts, The Quay Landry features a lovely marina and a café lined promenade.
Either you will return to the ship with your guide or you will continue to explore the town on your own.
Gesamtpreis inkl. Steuern- und Gebühren : € 40
Start your semi-urban hike from the pier.
Your guide will lead you to the chapel of Notre Dame de la Serra, lost in the maquis, overlooking the bay of Calvi. Built in 1479, it is listed as a Calvese religious heritage. From the top of this hill, a sculpture representing the Virgin Mary has been entrusted by Calvese with the protection of the city and has dedicated a pilgrimage to it for 500 years.
Finally, descend to Calvi, walking along the old alleys leading to the port.

Through the centuries, Portofino functioned primarily as a fishing village and, occasionally, as a small naval port. Today, it is a classy resort-village. Portofino's miniscule bay is neatly packed with pricey yachts, common boats and, as a vestige of its past, some fishing boats.
From the pier, you will meet your local guide and start your panoramic walking tour. If you don't bring your camera to Portofino, you will regret it. The town is striking with its brightly colored antique buildings hovering over sparkling blue water. And the surrounding luxuriant green hillsides of the Portofino Promontory are equally stunning.
Your walk heads up to the right as you face the harbour. You will enjoy a path through one of the largest concentrations of flora and fauna in the Mediterranean. For some fantastic views of the entire bay and the Tigullian Gulf, you will walk up the hill to the Church of San Giorgio. Perched high above the town, this church contains relics of St. George brought over by crusaders from the Holy Land. From here you will walk to another great lookout point at the Punto del Capo, the Portofino lighthouse.
Afterward, you will take the way back to the pier.
Inbegriffen
San Fruttuoso is located at the foot of the Portofino Mountain and can be reached by boat or by following the hiking trails on the mountain.
From the pier, you will meet your hiking guide and start your walk to San Fruttuoso. The beginning of the hike takes place on a very scenic route without major difficulties, but expect a small climb to reach the heights of Portofino.
After 10 minutes, in the locality of Palara, you will reach a gate and barrier that prevent wild animals from entering. Continue through a short tunnel created by a line of shrubs on both sides, allowing you to bypass the village of San Sebastian. The trail continues to climb straight ahead from there.
Some metres away, you will reach a second gate in Cappeletta. From here, the trail of mostly flat, dirt roads winds through the countryside to Vessinaro, where the trail deviates to "Cala degli Inglesi", a beautiful cove accessible only by foot or boat.
You will then walk toward the western side of the promontory that overlooks the numerous coves below. The trail alternates in short stretches of ups and downs along protruding rocks. After one-hour and 15 minutes of walking, you will reach Base 0, a former military post during World War II.
From here the trail enters the woods and down in a steep and irregular path, with large panoramic views over the village. San Fruttuoso is around the corner, and passing under a porch, you will enter the first of two enchanting bays. You will then enjoy a visit of the interior of San Fruttuoso Abbey. According to the legend, the place where the Abbey was to be built was shown to Bishop Fruttuoso in a dream. He would later die at the stake in Spain, but first shared his dream with five monks, who, after wandering for a long time along the Ligurian coast, recognised the place and built the Abbey there. The first document attesting to the presence of the monastery dates to 984. It then passed to the Benedictines, who enlarged it, and then to the Doria family. The Abbey reached its greatest splendour in the 15th century. It has been the main political and economic centre of the promontory until the last century, and influenced the organisation of the territory, agricultural system and fishing economy.
After the visit, you will enjoy some free time to stroll or bathe in the clear water of the cove.
Finally, you will return to Portofino by public motorboat and reach your ship.
Gesamtpreis inkl. Steuern- und Gebühren : € 60
From the pier, you will meet your local guide and take a 15-minute walk to your private boat. You will embark for a scenic cruise to Santa Margherita.
Portofino and the Tigullio Gulf are world-renowned symbols of Italy. The coast is a sequence of resorts with marinas, pastel-coloured houses, giving to this place a seductive atmosphere of la dolce vita. Suspended between the intense blue of the sea and the green mountains, it offers some of the most famous views in Italy.
Upon arrival in the charming town of Santa Margherita, you will start your exploration with the downtown area before visiting the Santa Margherita di Antiochia Basilica, also known as ‘La Madonna della Rosa’. The church honours the legend of a sailor who brought a sculpture of the Virgin Mary with a rose in her right hand and Jesus on her left arm.
Then, you will re-embark your private boat and continue your coastal cruise to Rapallo. This beautiful town of the Italian Riviera features a gracious old seaside and port, remains of its Medieval and Renaissance-style architecture. You guide will take you in the narrow streets of the town and will explain the richness of Rapallo’s history and architecture.
Afterwards, you will get back to your private boat and enjoy the 30-minute scenic cruise back to your ship.

Today, you will have the chance of discovering the secrets of Portofino’s Marine Park.
From the pier, you will meet your guide and walk for 30 minutes to Niasca Bay, where the kayak experience will begin, allowing you to explore the beauty of the Tigullian Bay.
Upon your arrival, you will be briefed on how to paddle a kayak, and then you will be ready to explore the Tigullian Bay coast, starting from Niasca and leaving the spectacular view of Paraggi Gulf behind you. Guided by marine biologists and local experts, you will have the chance to meet the most peculiar and traditional aspects of this small and rich natural sanctuary and its many forms.
You will then reach the port of Portofino and the small beach of Olivetta, where century-old maritime pine trees tower over the skyline. Then, you’ll soon reach a stretch of coast rich with caves and inlets, which are accessible only by kayak. Here, you will be able to spot a great variety of fauna (grey herons, cormorants and dolphins). Passing by the “Punta del Faro”, the lighthouse, the panorama will change: no trace of civilization can be seen as wild nature finally takes over!
After your kayak experience, you will paddle back to Niasca and return to Portofino and your ship, on foot.

The small Giglio isle, one of the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, lies cradled by warm blue seas, 50 km south of Elba and 15 km from the mainland, Monte Argentario promontory. Giglio's mild climate, unspoilt nature, and crystal clear, emerald water, offer unforgettable experiences in all seasons.
While the Isola del Giglio is known for its sun, sea, and sand, it also offers plenty opportunities for keen hikers. The hiking trails on the Isola del Giglio are numerous and can be combined with each other.
From Giglio port, you will meet your guide and start your 20-minutes uphill hike to Monticello. From here, you will walk downhill along the trail to Arenella beach.
The Arenella beach is located on the east coast of the island just north of the harbour Giglio Porto. It is the third largest beach on the island and the underwater alternating stones with sand give the bay an almost tropical paint. The sand is rather coarse-grained of a light gold colour. The beach drops slowly in depth and the bay is a paradise for snorkeller.
You will enjoy a 1-hour free time on the beach to relax and swim at your convenience.
Finally, you will walk back to Giglio port where your ship awaits you.

Giglio Castle is a fortified borgo part of the 'Borghi più belli d'Italia' network, impressively sculpted on granite outcrops. During the visit, your guide will tell you the story of pirates trying to conquer the island through centuries and local traditions surviving the progress of time.

Afterward, you will take the way back to the pier.
