Ihre Kreuzfahrt beginnt mit der Entdeckung zweier bedeutender Sehenswürdigkeiten Griechenlands von Nafplio aus: die Ruinen von Mykene und das Theater von Epidauros, die zum Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO zählen.
Dann steuert die Le Lyrial Paros an. Diese Insel im Herzen der Kykladen ist für ihren wunderschönen weißen Marmor berühmt. Mit ihren weiß getünchten Häusern, Olivenhainen und alten Bauwerken bietet sie ein Konzentrat der griechischen Schönheiten.
Zunächst entdecken Sie Delos, eine winzige Insel der Kykladen. Hier wurde der Mythologie zufolge Apollon geboren. Wie ein wahres Freilichtmuseum bietet Delos ein einzigartiges Zeugnis vergangener Zivilisationen, die in der Ägäis aufeinander folgten.

Nach einem Zwischenstopp in Patmos verlässt die Le Lyrial Griechenland und fährt nach Kusadasi in der Türkei. Das alte Fischerdorf in der Nähe von Ephesos, das auf 5.000 Jahre Geschichte zurückblickt, ist heute einer der beliebtesten Badeorte des Landes.
Sie entdecken die Vulkaninsel Limnos in der Nähe der Dardanellen. Die in der Antike von dem Feuergott Hephaistos beschützte üppig bewachsene, grüne Insel ist heute einer der beliebtesten Badeorte Griechenlands.

A descendent of four generations of Alsatian bakers, Pierre Hermé arrived in Paris aged 14 as an apprentice to Gaston Lenôtre. His thirst for knowledge opened many doors. He went on to develop his career with big brands, including Fauchon where he was head pastry chef for ten years before founding Maison Pierre Hermé Paris in 1998 with Charles Znaty.
Pierre Hermé has overturned traditions, doing away with excessive decorations in favour of a more discreet style, using sugar like salt as a seasoning, never resting on his laurels, but constantly exploring new flavours, mastering innovative ingredients and revisiting his own recipes. Pierre Jochem
Pierre Jochem joined the La Mamounia team as General Manager in September 2013. Thanks to his international experience, this visionary man and excellent manager, has contributed to the influence of the most beautiful establishments within prestigious hotel groups.
For more than twenty years, his mission will be the General Directorates of beautiful brands such as Hyatt, Peninsula, Oberoi, Four Seasons or Raffles with always the same goal: Excellence.
Pierre Jochem has been throughout his career the kind of leader for whom personal and work values are closely linked. His leitmotif being excellence and consistency, he has always been able to bring his teams together around his own values.
Under his leadership, La Mamounia won the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Award for Best Hotel in the World in September 2015 and in May 2018 and in September 2021.
In 2021, he has been names Best General Manager of the World by the prestigious Hotels Magazine.
It is also under his leadership and impulse that the major renovation of 2020 took place.

Rachid Agouray
It is as a simple kitchen hand that Rachid Agouray intègres La Mamounia in 1988. Since it is 24 years that have elapsed during which he received and perfected his training. Today, Rachid Agouray is the Executive Sous Chef of La Mamounia.
The Chef has been trained for international cuisine in diverse establishment such as the Palais hotel in Barritz, Cipriani hotel in Venise and Martinez hotel in Cannes.
Attracted by cooking since his childhood, it was from his mother that he learned the rudiments of this particularly feminine style of preparing food, Rachid Agouray reminds « In all kitchens it is women who play a major role, but here it in my team, I have included four men »
If the dishes on offer are in the purest Moroccan tradition, nonetheless the kitchen is not less hierarchical and professional in the line of the greatest restaurants.
This discreet Chef revisits the national gastronomy. Thus, the restaurant provides classical and traditional dishes and extends to a modern menu.
Rachid Agouray highlights his experiences and offers a revisited Moroccan cuisine. Traditional foods are revised based on contemporary and unique products like the famous pastilla with lobster and spinach.

Ideal clothes for life on board:
During the days spent on board, you are advised to wear comfortable clothes or casual outfits. The entire ship is air-conditioned, so a light sweater, a light jacket or a shawl may be necessary. When moving about in the public areas of the ship and the decks, light but comfortable shoes are recommended.

All our cabins have a safe. We recommend not to go ashore with valuable jewellery.

Kid Explorers
PONANT has joined forces with the Maud Fontenoy Foundation to run its Kid Explorers children’s club.
As part of its commitment to safeguarding the oceans, during your cruise PONANT offers an activity programme for children aged 4 to 13 years old to familiarise them with issues related to protecting our oceans. We have special educational kits, activity sheets and themed videos all provided by the Foundation.
Every day a team of activity leaders organises creative activities (crafts, painting, etc.), fun educational workshops, board games, introduction to meditation sessions and more, as well as activities specific to the cruise itinerary and number of participants. There are also activities ashore to prolong the experience for your Kid Explorers such as walks, treasure hunts and swimming.
The activity programme is available every day up to 9.30pm (and as an exception until 10.30pm on gala evenings). To best meet your needs, the schedule is adapted to fit in with your cruise programme. For more information, contact the team organising the activities.

Every child receives a welcome kit with gifts enclosed.

Die griechische Hauptstadt liegt am Rande des Saronischen Golfs im Osten des Landes. Der Name Athen stand einst im Plural und bezog sich auf die ersten Dörfer, welche die Akropolis umgaben. Dieses Felsplateau mit historischen Bauwerken, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehören, ist einfach bezaubernd. Weiter unten haben Sie die Gelegenheit, eines der lebhaftesten Viertel von Athen zu besichtigen: Plaka mit seinem Gewirr aus bunten Gässchen, die am Abend nach Moussaka und Garnelen mit Knoblauch duften. Das Archäologische Nationalmuseum und das Museum für kykladische Kunst gehören auch zu den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt und erlauben es, die glanzvolle kulturelle Vergangenheit Athens zu entdecken.

Die schöne Stadt Nauplio erstreckt sich stufenförmig an den grünen Hängen des Argolischen Golfs im Osten des Peloponnes. Sie ermöglicht Ihnen, ein sehr mannigfaltiges Kulturerbe zu entdecken. Sehenswert sind zum Beispiel die antike Agora auf dem Akronafplia-Plateau, die Arkaden im italienischen Stil des Syntagma-Platzes und die barocke Festung Palamidi auf dem gleichnamigen Hügel. Von ganz oben bezaubert die Panoramaaussicht auf den Golf und die umliegenden Berge. Um sich am Wasser zu entspannen, folgen Sie der Arvanitia-Promenade zu einer schönen kleinen Felsbucht im Schatten von Zedern und Zypressen.

Dieses legendäre Etappenziel der Kykladen erstreckt sich südwestlich von Mykonos. Der feierliche Anblick dieses antiken, heiligen Ortes fällt gleich bei der Ankunft auf. Es ist beeindruckend, dass die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehörende Ausgrabungsstätte nicht weniger als die Hälfte der Insel bedeckt. Vom Antigone-Portikus bis zur Löwenterrasse mit in Marmor gehauenen Skulpturen gehen Sie von Entdeckung zu Entdeckung mit der Ägäis als Hintergrund. Am Hang eines Hügels ermöglichen Ihnen die Sitzreihen eines Theaters einen besonders weiten Panoramaausblick auf die Küste.

Die auch Klein-Venedig genannte Stadt Mykonos ist für ihr Viertel Alefkandra mit über dem Wasser gebauten Häusern berühmt. Deren bunte Loggien sind kennzeichnend für dieses Reiseziel der Kykladen, ebenso wie die Pelikane und die Windmühlen. Sie können sich diesen Vögeln an den Kais des alten Hafens nähern, während Sie die sich drehenden Flügel der Mühlen auf dem Hügel betrachten. An den gepflasterten Straßen der Fußgängerzone schmücken Bougainvilleen die Häuser mit strahlend weißen Fassaden. Das beim Streifen durch die Gassen flüchtig wahrgenommene Küstengebiet lädt dazu ein, die Strände der Insel zu besuchen, von denen die ruhigsten an der Nordküste liegen.

Patmos stellt ein legendäres Etappenziel des Dodekanes dar: Hier lebte Johannes, der mutmaßliche Autor des letzten Buches der Bibel. Die Apokalypsengrotte und das Kloster von Johannes dem Theologen sind ihm gewidmet. Sie entdecken diese zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehörenden Stätten auf einem mit Weinreben und Obstbäumen bepflanzten Hügel. An der Küste bieten die kristallklaren Buchten von Kambos und Lampi wunderbare Badefreuden.

Der reizvolle Badeort Kusadasi liegt an einem Golf an der türkischen Westküste. Sie können in einem glasklaren Wasser baden oder entlang der Küstenpromenade unter Palmen flanieren. Im historischen Viertel gehen Sie durch schmale Gassen, um in Ruhe die bunten Läden des Basars zu erkunden. Da die Ausgrabungsstätte von Ephesos nicht weit entfernt in den Hügeln liegt, haben Sie die Gelegenheit die bedeutenden Überreste dieser Stadt, eine der berühmtesten der Antike, zu entdecken.

Die Dardanellen sind eine Meerenge, die die Ägäis mit dem Marmarameer verbindet. Sie ist von symbolischer und strategischer Bedeutung für die Kontrolle der Verbindungen zwischen dem Mittelmeer und dem Schwarzen Meer. Wie der Bosporus trennen die Dardanellen Europa von Asien. Die Meerenge ist 61 km lang und wird von einer Oberflächenströmung und einer Bodenströmung mit höherem Salzgehalt in umgekehrter Richtung beherrscht. An den Ufern können Sie Hügellandschaften oder trockene Ebenen, aufgelockert durch Wäldchen und Olivenhaine, betrachten.

Das am Bosporus gelegene Istanbul ist eine der schönsten Städte der Türkei. Erst Byzanz bei der Gründung durch die Griechen, dann Konstantinopel unter dem Römischen Reich genannt, enthüllt Sie Ihnen heute eine reiche historische Altstadt, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärt wurde. Auf dem Hügel von Sultanahmet erheben sich die grandiose Blaue Moschee, die mysteriöse Basilika Hagia Sophia und der riesige Topkapi-Palast, der mit unzähligen Mosaiken verziert ist, über dem Marmarameer. Im Viertel Beyazit sind die eleganten überdachten Passagen des Großen Basars zu bewundern. Etwas weiter strömen delikate Aromen der Lokums und Gewürze aus dem Ägyptischen Basar.
Ancient Corinth & Canal crossing
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ½-hour drive to the ancient town of Corinth where Saint Paul lived and preached for two years.
Back in the ancient times, Corinth was amongst the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge Agora (Market Place) and the Temple of Apollo (6th century BC). The systematic excavations of the area, initiated by the American School of Classical Studies in 1896, are still continuing today. They have brought to light the agora, temples, fountains, shops, porticoes, baths and various other monuments. The investigations extended also to the fortress on Acrocorinthos. But also, the prehistoric settlements, the Theatre, the Odeon, the Asklepeion, the cemeteries, the Quarter of the Potters, and other buildings outside the main archaeological site.
Then, you will discover is the famous Corinth Canal. The canal is 4 miles (6.3 km) long, 70 feet (21 m) wide and has sloping sides, which reach 170 feet (52 m). The depth is at 26 feet (8 m). Its construction commenced in 1881, although the idea of connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas to provide a short cut seems to date back to at least Roman times.
To complete this experience, you will board a local boat from the village of Isthmia, to navigate along the canal. Refreshments will be served on board.
Following your crossing of the canal, you will enjoy a buffet lunch before boarding your coach and return to Nafplion.

Epidaurus & Mycenae
From the pier, board your coach for a 45-minute ride to Epidaurus.
Lying 30 km (18.6 miles) east of Nafplion, Epidaurus is known for its ancient theatre. Considered one of the most important sanctuaries in the ancient world, Epidaurus was dedicated to the god of medicine, Asclepius. The world-famous Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, built in the 4th century BC, is a marvel of harmony and acoustics and the best-preserved ancient theatre in Greece. Built in limestone, it can accommodate 12,000 spectators.
Next, re-board your coach for a ride to the archaeological site of Mycenae. The first in-depth excavations were carried out in 1876 by the German archaeologist Schliemann, who was obsessed with finding the grave of King Agamemnon. His diligent work exposed the famous Lion Gate, the entrance to the city which contains the shaft burial graves of some ancient nobles. A short distance away is the Beehive Tomb, so called due to its unusual shape.
Finally, you will board your coach for a 30-minute ride to Nafplion.

Panorama & winery
Your tour starts off with a panoramic drive to the traditional village of Lefkes, a beautiful hilltop village built in an amphitheatre shape, offering wonderful vistas all around. The town hall is especially nice, being built with the famous marble of Paros.
After a short visit, continue towards the traditional Moraitis Winery, see the vineyards, visit the production areas and the old winery basement, where the famous red wines of Moraitis are still aged. Your visit of the property will end with a wine tasting accompanied by local snacks.
You will then continue to the nearby village of Naoussa, considered to be one of the prettiest in the Cyclades. Despite the development of tourism, the village has managed to keep its authenticity, its character and its charm, with its whitewashed and flowered little houses and its tiny whitewashed churches and chapels, surrounded by labyrinth-like narrow, stone-paved streets.
Your last stop will be in Parikia town, where you will visit the famous Church of a Hundred Doors. This church is the holy place of Paros and is linked to the history and myths of Byzantium.

Parikia & Naoussa
From the pier, board your coach for a 10-minute drive to the famous Byzantine Church of Ekatontapyliani. Also named the “Lady of the hundred doors”, this church is one of the greatest early Christian monuments in Greece. The name was a creation of the 17th century scholars who wanted to compare the splendour of the church to that of the Temple of Hundred Doors (Ekatonpylon) in ancient Thebes of Egypt.
Following your visit, you will board your coach for a panoramic drive to the traditional village of Lefkes.
Lefkes is the most mountainous village of Paros and the most verdurous one. It was the first capital of Paros. The village is located under a pineforest on the hill. Follow your guide on a walking tour through its narrow streets with white walls. See the old wash-houses that are still used by some housewives, the House of Literature, the picturesque Ramnos, a street with taverns and other stores and the wonderful view: the sea and Naxos in the background. The houses are built amphitheatrical. The first residents were immigrants that came from Crete and Naoussa and locals who chose to build their village on the mountain, in order to be protected from the pirates. The town hall was built with the famous marble of Paros.
Once leaving Lefkes, you will head for the picturesque village of Naoussa. The port of Naoussa is protected by a separate fortification, the Venetian Castle. The fortification was built in the 15th century by the dynasty of Sommaripas and emerges from the sea behind the small harbour with the traditional fish boats. Today, although half sunk, the castle offers a very impressive sight worth seeing.
Before rejoining your ship, you will have some free time to stroll around its narrow streets, little squares and traditional whitewashed houses.

Paros by boat & swimming
From the pier, board your motorboat and start your cruise around Antiparos Island.
Antiparos is a small and quiet island which houses only one village built around the Venetian fort, example of fortification of the 15th century. Hosting many sandy beaches, this island became famous the last couple of years, as many Hollywood actors and singers like Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie and Madonna have their own properties.
During your boat trip, you will have the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
Stops at anchorage will be made, where you will enjoy time for swimming and snorkeling. After enjoying a final swim in crystal clear waters, you will have some refreshment.
Finally, you will return to the port of Alyki, where your coach will be waiting for you to get back to your ship.

The archaeological site of Delos
Your tour will start directly from the pier where you will have disembarked by ship's tender. Follow your guide and go discover one of the best preserved archaeological sites in Greece.
Both the oldest and the largest open-air site in Europe, this antique site has many houses, temples and sacred shrines. Emerging from a burned grass carpet, the ruins are spread out below Mount Kynthos. At the top of this small hill and only relief of the island, the Sanctuary of Zeus and Athena Cynthiens dating from the 3rd century BC. Overlooking the area, as on the hillside, you can see a range of cultural institutions dedicated to oriental divinities. Frozen by 2,000 years of abandonment, the city ruins draw an impressive maze of white stone in which one can get lost like the pilgrims and the merchants of yesteryear, when Delos was beaming on the Aegean.
You will reach the sanctuary of Apollo, known as the “Temple of the Athenians”, where you will admire the temples dedicated to this god, their altars, their votive offerings and other buildings.
Then, you will discover the Terrace of the Lions, with its famous marble lions that dominated and protected the town. You will continue until the Theatre District, the most luxurious district of the ancient city with the mansions known as the home “of Dionysus”, “of Cleopatra” and “of Dioscuri”. You will see the different mosaics that adorned the floors of Hellenistic houses, and the streets, the houses, the workshops and the shops that made Delos a bustling city.

Walking tour of Mykonos
From the pier, follow your guide and start your walking tour through the narrow streets of Mykonos town.
Your first stop will be in front of Paraportiani Church dating back to 15th century. This unique church, is in fact an asymmetrical conglomeration of 4 churches and mixes 4 different architectural styles: Byzantine, vernacular, traditional and western style. It is the most important element of the “kastro” or the castle area, the oldest part of the town.
Continue towards Little Venice to discover the old houses situated on the edge of the sea.
After, you will get back to your ship.

Saint John Monastery & Apocalypse Cave
From the pier, board your coach for a drive to the Saint John Monastery. Overlooking Skala port and the island’s southern region, this medieval monastery looks more like a fortress than a house of prayer. It was built to repel attacks by pirates.
In the year 95 AD, Saint John the Evangelist was banished from Ephesus and exiled to Patmos, which in the days of the Roman Empire was where those who were exiled were sent.
In 1088, the Byzantine Emperor Alexios Komnenos authorised Saint Christodoulos, an abbot from Asia Minor, to erect a monastery in memory of Saint John. The whole island was yielded to the monastery. The adjoining Theotokos Chapel has frescoes dating back to the 12th century. Other Byzantine treasures are found in the monastery. Today this holy place is a veritable museum of Byzantine art thanks to the countless frescoes, icons, holy objects and manuscripts contained within its walls.
After visiting the monastery, a short drive away, will take you to the Apocalypse Cave where the final chapter of the New Testament was revealed to John the Apostle. The Book of Revelation prophecy came to him through a symbolic vision and was written in Greek. This cave was the house of the evangelist and now is surrounded by a monastery and school of theology. You can see the resting place outlined in beaten silver where St John laid his head every night. To the right the rock is shaped like a pulpit and is where the disciple, Prochoros, wrote the revelation as dictated by John.
Finally, you will re-board your coach for the drive back to the pier.

They occupy with the art of needlework and embroideries of clerical vestments.

Capturing the images of Patmos
This tour, covering the south side of the island, not only gives you the opportunity of discovering hidden places but also an opportunity to photograph the most amazing land and seascapes along.
From the pier, board your minibus to the old village of Chora, the island’s capital and a photographer’s paradise! Your first experience is a panoramic view right over the island and over the 11th century monastery built like a fort, standing with proud dominance. You will be guided through Chora’s labyrinth of winding cobbled streets and maze of arched alleyways. The settlement of white-washed houses dating from 16th century, reflects the light casting shadows and creating geometric patterns. The alleys, arches and doorways display a harmonious balance revealing subtle architectural details which, through your lens, can become exciting atmospheric images trapped in time.
Continue to Diakofti stopping off to photograph the view of the mystical rock of Petra and then go to a boatyard. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph the local islanders at work and the streamline shapes of vessels in dry dock.
After a local refreshment, and your camera full of great images, you will return to Skala port.

Ephesus & Roman Villas
From the pier, you will embark your coach for a 30-minute drive to the Ephesus site, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean basin.
Originally dedicated to Cybele, the goddess of fertility, during the prehistoric times, the city was claimed by the Ionians for Artemis and later to Diana by the Romans. Ephesus is one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman sites of the ancient world in the whole Mediterranean. Excavated since 1869, most of the main streets and public buildings have been unearthed and opened for visitors. Everything is here: town hall, dwellings, shops and even public toilets. A town of white marble dazzling in the sunshine, Ephesus is like a stone history book recounting the story of what daily life must have been like in the time of the Greeks and Romans.
During your tour, you will discover the Roman Ephesus. Most of the monuments were built during the reign of Emperor Augustus. Due to its location, the city was developed into two sections: the upper part of the city was the administrative sector with the town hall, a civil basilica and the Odeon aligned on the north side of the State Agora. The lower section facing the port houses religious, commercial and cultural buildings, such as the famous Celsius Library, Roman Villas, commercial agora and its theatre, which accommodated up to 24,000 spectators, and the stadium.
You will start your tour at the upper gate of Ephesus, which is also known as the Magnesium Gate. Your guide will lead you on a leisurely downhill walking tour through Ephesus’ marble streets, passing and pointing out all the historically important buildings on the way.
You will move on to the recently excavated Terrace Houses complex which are also known as the houses of the rich Ephesians. Located on the northern slope of Bulbul Mountain next to Curetes Street and opposite the Temple of Hadrian, these houses were built in the peristyle form with a courtyard surrounded by Ionic colonnades. They are finely decorated with mosaics and frescoes. Built in the period of Augustus, they were inhabited until the 7th century AD according to evidence from excavations.
Then, you will visit one of the most impressive sites of Ephesus, the Library of Celsus. Built in 135 BC by a son in homage to his father, this library is finely decorated with columns and sculptures.
Finally, after just a short walk away, you will join the Grand theatre where St Paul preached to the Ephesians, imploring them to give up their worship of Artemis and embrace the Christian faith.

Poliochni archaeological site & winery
From the pier, board your coach and start your 50-minute drive to the east coast of Limnos, where you will find the archaeological site of Poliochni.
Here, in 1930, Italian archaeologists discovered seven different layers of civilisations, one on the top of the other. The Neolithic town predates Egyptian dynasties, the Minoan Kingdoms of Crete and even Troy, but was destroyed by an earthquake in 2100 BC and was never rebuilt. Poliochni is considered one of the largest early urban centres of the Early Bronze Age and the first city in Europe with a basic social and civic structure. It is believed to have welcomed a number of craftsmen as many gold jewels were discovered during the excavations.
Following your visit to Poliochni, you will proceed to a Limnos winery for a wine tasting accompanied with local snacks.
Finally, you will board your coach and return to the pier, a 30-minute drive.

Meet at Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos - Arrival Hall. Look for PONANT sign. You will be greeted by our local representative off the flight selected by PONANT.
You will depart the airport by coach for a scenic tour of Athens en route to the port of Piraeus.
When you will reach Athens, you will make your first stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, a 19th-century reconstruction on Roman foundations, in which the first modern Olympic Games took place. This stadium is also known as the Kallimármaro which means “the beautiful marbled” because it is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white marble. It was also restored to host some competitions during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
You will enjoy a photo stop at the bottom of the Acropolis Hill with its spectacular view of the Parthenon before being transferred to the port of Piraeus where you will embark on your ship.

Ancient Corinth & Canal crossing
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ½-hour drive to the ancient town of Corinth where Saint Paul lived and preached for two years.
Back in the ancient times, Corinth was amongst the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge Agora (Market Place) and the Temple of Apollo (6th century BC). The systematic excavations of the area, initiated by the American School of Classical Studies in 1896, are still continuing today. They have brought to light the agora, temples, fountains, shops, porticoes, baths and various other monuments. The investigations extended also to the fortress on Acrocorinthos. But also, the prehistoric settlements, the Theatre, the Odeon, the Asklepeion, the cemeteries, the Quarter of the Potters, and other buildings outside the main archaeological site.
Then, you will discover is the famous Corinth Canal. The canal is 4 miles (6.3 km) long, 70 feet (21 m) wide and has sloping sides, which reach 170 feet (52 m). The depth is at 26 feet (8 m). Its construction commenced in 1881, although the idea of connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas to provide a short cut seems to date back to at least Roman times.
To complete this experience, you will board a local boat from the village of Isthmia, to navigate along the canal. Refreshments will be served on board.
Following your crossing of the canal, you will enjoy a buffet lunch before boarding your coach and return to Nafplion.

Epidaurus & Mycenae
From the pier, board your coach for a 45-minute ride to Epidaurus.
Lying 30 km (18.6 miles) east of Nafplion, Epidaurus is known for its ancient theatre. Considered one of the most important sanctuaries in the ancient world, Epidaurus was dedicated to the god of medicine, Asclepius. The world-famous Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, built in the 4th century BC, is a marvel of harmony and acoustics and the best-preserved ancient theatre in Greece. Built in limestone, it can accommodate 12,000 spectators.
Next, re-board your coach for a ride to the archaeological site of Mycenae. The first in-depth excavations were carried out in 1876 by the German archaeologist Schliemann, who was obsessed with finding the grave of King Agamemnon. His diligent work exposed the famous Lion Gate, the entrance to the city which contains the shaft burial graves of some ancient nobles. A short distance away is the Beehive Tomb, so called due to its unusual shape.
Finally, you will board your coach for a 30-minute ride to Nafplion.

Panorama & winery
Your tour starts off with a panoramic drive to the traditional village of Lefkes, a beautiful hilltop village built in an amphitheatre shape, offering wonderful vistas all around. The town hall is especially nice, being built with the famous marble of Paros.
After a short visit, continue towards the traditional Moraitis Winery, see the vineyards, visit the production areas and the old winery basement, where the famous red wines of Moraitis are still aged. Your visit of the property will end with a wine tasting accompanied by local snacks.
You will then continue to the nearby village of Naoussa, considered to be one of the prettiest in the Cyclades. Despite the development of tourism, the village has managed to keep its authenticity, its character and its charm, with its whitewashed and flowered little houses and its tiny whitewashed churches and chapels, surrounded by labyrinth-like narrow, stone-paved streets.
Your last stop will be in Parikia town, where you will visit the famous Church of a Hundred Doors. This church is the holy place of Paros and is linked to the history and myths of Byzantium.

Parikia & Naoussa
From the pier, board your coach for a 10-minute drive to the famous Byzantine Church of Ekatontapyliani. Also named the “Lady of the hundred doors”, this church is one of the greatest early Christian monuments in Greece. The name was a creation of the 17th century scholars who wanted to compare the splendour of the church to that of the Temple of Hundred Doors (Ekatonpylon) in ancient Thebes of Egypt.
Following your visit, you will board your coach for a panoramic drive to the traditional village of Lefkes.
Lefkes is the most mountainous village of Paros and the most verdurous one. It was the first capital of Paros. The village is located under a pineforest on the hill. Follow your guide on a walking tour through its narrow streets with white walls. See the old wash-houses that are still used by some housewives, the House of Literature, the picturesque Ramnos, a street with taverns and other stores and the wonderful view: the sea and Naxos in the background. The houses are built amphitheatrical. The first residents were immigrants that came from Crete and Naoussa and locals who chose to build their village on the mountain, in order to be protected from the pirates. The town hall was built with the famous marble of Paros.
Once leaving Lefkes, you will head for the picturesque village of Naoussa. The port of Naoussa is protected by a separate fortification, the Venetian Castle. The fortification was built in the 15th century by the dynasty of Sommaripas and emerges from the sea behind the small harbour with the traditional fish boats. Today, although half sunk, the castle offers a very impressive sight worth seeing.
Before rejoining your ship, you will have some free time to stroll around its narrow streets, little squares and traditional whitewashed houses.

Paros by boat & swimming
From the pier, board your motorboat and start your cruise around Antiparos Island.
Antiparos is a small and quiet island which houses only one village built around the Venetian fort, example of fortification of the 15th century. Hosting many sandy beaches, this island became famous the last couple of years, as many Hollywood actors and singers like Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie and Madonna have their own properties.
During your boat trip, you will have the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
Stops at anchorage will be made, where you will enjoy time for swimming and snorkeling. After enjoying a final swim in crystal clear waters, you will have some refreshment.
Finally, you will return to the port of Alyki, where your coach will be waiting for you to get back to your ship.

The archaeological site of Delos
Your tour will start directly from the pier where you will have disembarked by ship's tender. Follow your guide and go discover one of the best preserved archaeological sites in Greece.
Both the oldest and the largest open-air site in Europe, this antique site has many houses, temples and sacred shrines. Emerging from a burned grass carpet, the ruins are spread out below Mount Kynthos. At the top of this small hill and only relief of the island, the Sanctuary of Zeus and Athena Cynthiens dating from the 3rd century BC. Overlooking the area, as on the hillside, you can see a range of cultural institutions dedicated to oriental divinities. Frozen by 2,000 years of abandonment, the city ruins draw an impressive maze of white stone in which one can get lost like the pilgrims and the merchants of yesteryear, when Delos was beaming on the Aegean.
You will reach the sanctuary of Apollo, known as the “Temple of the Athenians”, where you will admire the temples dedicated to this god, their altars, their votive offerings and other buildings.
Then, you will discover the Terrace of the Lions, with its famous marble lions that dominated and protected the town. You will continue until the Theatre District, the most luxurious district of the ancient city with the mansions known as the home “of Dionysus”, “of Cleopatra” and “of Dioscuri”. You will see the different mosaics that adorned the floors of Hellenistic houses, and the streets, the houses, the workshops and the shops that made Delos a bustling city.

Walking tour of Mykonos
From the pier, follow your guide and start your walking tour through the narrow streets of Mykonos town.
Your first stop will be in front of Paraportiani Church dating back to 15th century. This unique church, is in fact an asymmetrical conglomeration of 4 churches and mixes 4 different architectural styles: Byzantine, vernacular, traditional and western style. It is the most important element of the “kastro” or the castle area, the oldest part of the town.
Continue towards Little Venice to discover the old houses situated on the edge of the sea.
After, you will get back to your ship.

Saint John Monastery & Apocalypse Cave
From the pier, board your coach for a drive to the Saint John Monastery. Overlooking Skala port and the island’s southern region, this medieval monastery looks more like a fortress than a house of prayer. It was built to repel attacks by pirates.
In the year 95 AD, Saint John the Evangelist was banished from Ephesus and exiled to Patmos, which in the days of the Roman Empire was where those who were exiled were sent.
In 1088, the Byzantine Emperor Alexios Komnenos authorised Saint Christodoulos, an abbot from Asia Minor, to erect a monastery in memory of Saint John. The whole island was yielded to the monastery. The adjoining Theotokos Chapel has frescoes dating back to the 12th century. Other Byzantine treasures are found in the monastery. Today this holy place is a veritable museum of Byzantine art thanks to the countless frescoes, icons, holy objects and manuscripts contained within its walls.
After visiting the monastery, a short drive away, will take you to the Apocalypse Cave where the final chapter of the New Testament was revealed to John the Apostle. The Book of Revelation prophecy came to him through a symbolic vision and was written in Greek. This cave was the house of the evangelist and now is surrounded by a monastery and school of theology. You can see the resting place outlined in beaten silver where St John laid his head every night. To the right the rock is shaped like a pulpit and is where the disciple, Prochoros, wrote the revelation as dictated by John.
Finally, you will re-board your coach for the drive back to the pier.

They occupy with the art of needlework and embroideries of clerical vestments.

Capturing the images of Patmos
This tour, covering the south side of the island, not only gives you the opportunity of discovering hidden places but also an opportunity to photograph the most amazing land and seascapes along.
From the pier, board your minibus to the old village of Chora, the island’s capital and a photographer’s paradise! Your first experience is a panoramic view right over the island and over the 11th century monastery built like a fort, standing with proud dominance. You will be guided through Chora’s labyrinth of winding cobbled streets and maze of arched alleyways. The settlement of white-washed houses dating from 16th century, reflects the light casting shadows and creating geometric patterns. The alleys, arches and doorways display a harmonious balance revealing subtle architectural details which, through your lens, can become exciting atmospheric images trapped in time.
Continue to Diakofti stopping off to photograph the view of the mystical rock of Petra and then go to a boatyard. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph the local islanders at work and the streamline shapes of vessels in dry dock.
After a local refreshment, and your camera full of great images, you will return to Skala port.

Ephesus & Roman Villas

A town of white marble dazzling in the sunshine, Ephesus is like a stone history book recounting the story of what daily life must have been like in the time of the Greeks and Romans.
During your tour, you will discover the Roman Ephesus. Most of the monuments were built during the reign of Emperor Augustus. Due to its location, the city was developed into two sections: the upper part of the city was the administrative sector with the town hall, a civil basilica and the Odeon aligned on the north side of the State Agora. The lower section facing the port houses religious, commercial and cultural buildings, such as the famous Celsius Library, Roman Villas, commercial agora and its theatre, which accommodated up to 24,000 spectators, and the stadium.
You will start your tour at the upper gate of Ephesus, which is also known as the Magnesium Gate. Your guide will lead you on a leisurely downhill walking tour through Ephesus’ marble streets, passing and pointing out all the historically important buildings on the way.
You will move on to the recently excavated Terrace Houses complex which are also known as the houses of the rich Ephesians. Located on the northern slope of Bulbul Mountain next to Curetes Street and opposite the Temple of Hadrian, these houses were built in the peristyle form with a courtyard surrounded by Ionic colonnades. They are finely decorated with mosaics and frescoes. Built in the period of Augustus, they were inhabited until the 7th century AD according to evidence from excavations.
Then, you will visit one of the most impressive sites of Ephesus, the Library of Celsus. Built in 135 BC by a son in homage to his father, this library is finely decorated with columns and sculptures.
Finally, after just a short walk away, you will join the Grand theatre where St Paul preached to the Ephesians, imploring them to give up their worship of Artemis and embrace the Christian faith.

The Ephesus archaeological site

Poliochni archaeological site & winery
From the pier, board your coach and start your 50-minute drive to the east coast of Limnos, where you will find the archaeological site of Poliochni.
Here, in 1930, Italian archaeologists discovered seven different layers of civilisations, one on the top of the other. The Neolithic town predates Egyptian dynasties, the Minoan Kingdoms of Crete and even Troy, but was destroyed by an earthquake in 2100 BC and was never rebuilt. Poliochni is considered one of the largest early urban centres of the Early Bronze Age and the first city in Europe with a basic social and civic structure. It is believed to have welcomed a number of craftsmen as many gold jewels were discovered during the excavations.
Following your visit to Poliochni, you will proceed to a Limnos winery for a wine tasting accompanied with local snacks.
Finally, you will board your coach and return to the pier, a 30-minute drive.

ISTANBUL, WHERE EAST MEETS WEST (2 NIGHTS)

Day 1 - Istanbul
After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local representative.
You will head for the Asian side of Istanbul. To get there, you will cross the Bosphorus Bridge, connecting the European and Asian shores.
Built along the Bosphorus, a 32-km-long (30 miles) strip of sea connecting the Sea of Marmara to the Black Sea, Istanbul is a megalopolis straddling both Europe and Asia. Each of the two shores has its own charm, personality and history. Inhabited since the 7th century BC, Istanbul has had many rulers and several names, including Byzantium and Constantinople. The sultans and emperors made this city their place of residence, and it served as the capital of the Roman and Ottoman empires, as well as a number of other kingdoms.
Your first stop will be Beylerbeyi Palace. This palace with a French Baroque architecture was built from white marble in 1865. Originally a summer palace, it became the residence of heads of state. It interior decor blends Eastern and Western influences.
Next, you will visit the charming Kuzguncuk neighbourhood, which has successfully preserved the traditional atmosphere of villages along the Bosphorus. You will be able to soak it in as you enjoy a coffee break in a historical café.
As you wander through its streets, you will see the typical architecture of the neighbourhood’s traditional wooden houses overlooking small gardens. As evidenced by the different places of worship (synagogues, Armenian and orthodox churches, mosques), a unique atmosphere of tolerance also reigns here, maintained over the years as different waves of people settled in this part of the city. At first, Jewish, Armenian, and Greek communities could be found in the neighbourhood. Then, in the 1960s, a small group of farmers from the Black Sea moved in, and more recently, in the past 20 years, it has been attracting artists and intellectuals.
Your next stop will be Kadikoy, where lunch will be served at a local restaurant popular with Istanbul locals. After your meal, you will enjoy a sightseeing tour of this district founded in ancient times by the Chalcedonians. Its bustling, narrow streets and its markets are an opportunity to observe the frantic pace of local life.
After this immersion on the Asian side of the city, you will embark on a private cruise along the Bosphorus. This will be a chance to rest while enjoying a not-to-be-missed experience in Istanbul.

Day 2 - Istanbul
After the breakfast, you will leave your hotel to explore the European side of Istanbul.
You will start your discovery by visiting Topkapi Palace, the political centre of the Ottoman Empire and the main residence of the Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years (from 1465 to 1853). The visit also includes the separate entrance to the palace harem, where the sultan lived with his family and concubines.
(When Topkapi Palace is closed, on Tuesdays, this visit is replaced by Dolmabahçe Palace. Boasting a monumental architecture, Dolmabahçe Palace – also called the “Ottoman Versailles” – was the final residence of the Ottoman sultans and their families, from 1853 to 1922).
You will stroll along a few of the streets in the historical centre to reach the local restaurant where you will be having lunch.
Not far from there, the afternoon’s activities will continue with a paper marbling workshop, a traditional Turkish art called “Ebru”. This book art was introduced to Turkey via the Silk Road in the 15th century and is now on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It consists in creating colourful patterns by applying coloured pigments and then transferring them to paper. You will learn more about the different techniques used and the importance of this tradition.
You will then be transferred to the hotel.
