Tauchen & erster Tauchgang
Begleitung der Tauchgänge
Ihre Tauchgänge werden von unseren PONANT Tauchguides begleitet. Diese werden sich um Ihre Sicherheit und einen reibungslosen Ablauf kümmern. An einigen Tauchplätzen, wie in Naturschutzgebieten oder wenn die örtlichen Vorschriften dies vorschreiben, wird zusätzlich ein lokaler Führer das Tauchen begleiten.
Erforderliches Tauchlevel während dieser Kreuzfahrt
Das erforderliche Niveau für Gäste, die während dieser Kreuzfahrt tauchen möchten, ist PADI Open Water Diver, CMAS 1 Stern oder ein gleichwertiges Zertifikat. Die Zertifizierung, das Tauchlogbuch und ein aktuelles ärztliches Attest (weniger als 12 Monate alt) müssen zu Beginn der Kreuzfahrt den PONANT Tauchguides vorgelegt werden.
Ablauf der Tauchgänge (zertifizierte Taucher)
Der Tauchguide behält sich das Recht vor, die Fähigkeit der Taucher auf maximale Sicherheit zu überprüfen. Da wir an abgelegenen Orten tauchen, werden die Tauchgänge ohne Dekompressionsstopp durchgeführt. Ein Sicherheitsstopp von 3 Minuten bei 5 Metern ist obligatorisch. Die Tiefe, die erreicht werden kann, hängt von der Zertifizierung der Taucher ab:
- Für diejenigen mit PADI Advanced Open Water Diver-Zertifikat (oder einem gleichwertigen Zertifikat) beträgt die maximale Tiefe bis zu 20 Meter.
- Wenn zwei PADI Advanced Open Water Divers (oder gleichwertiges Zertifikat) unabhängig tauchen möchten, müssen sie zuerst eine Einweisung erhalten. Sie müssen Tauchcomputer haben und dürfen maximal eine Tiefe von 20 Metern erreichen.
Ablauf der Schnuppertauchgänge (Tauchanfänger)
Vor dem ersten Tauchgang zeigt Ihnen der Tauchguide die Ausrüstung und erklärt, wie unter Wasser mit Handzeichen kommuniziert wird und wie das Atmen durch einen Atemregler funktioniert. Sobald Sie im Wasser sind und mit der entsprechenden Ausrüstung ausgestattet sind, lernen Sie, wie Sie einige Minuten lang durch Ihren Atemregler an der Oberfläche atmen. Wenn der Tauchguide das Gefühlt hat, dass Sie bereit sind, taucht er mit Ihnen etwa 20 Minuten lang bis zu einer Tiefe von maximal 6 Metern.
Dauer der Tauchgänge
Die Tauchgänge dauern 2 bis 3 Stunden, einschließlich der Fahrt zum Tauchplatz und des Tauchens. Diese Dauer kann je nach Standort, Taucherniveau, Wetterbedingungen und Teilnehmerzahl variieren. Für erfahrene Taucher variiert die Tauchdauer je nach Ort, Erfahrung und Verbrauch des Tauchers zwischen 35 und 60 Minuten.

In Ausnahmefällen können diese gemäß den Hygienebedingungen* ausgeliehen werden.

The fauna of the Caribbean Sea is very varied. During the different dives, divers can observe various species of benthic fauna such as French angel fish, queen angel fish, spotted drums, puffer fish, parrots fish, and pelagic fauna such as spotted eagle ray, barracudas, horse eyes jackfish, as well as fixed wildlife such as gorgonians and barrel sponges.

Colón ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Panamas und liegt am Eingang des Panamakanals auf der Karibikseite. Heute ist die Stadt ein bedeutender Handelshafen, die Schaffung der Freihandelszone im Jahr 1953 hat erheblich zu ihrem Aufschwung beigetragen. Sie wurde 1850 von den Amerikanern gegründet, die am Bau der Eisenbahnlinie zwischen der Atlantikküste und der Pazifikküste der Landenge von Panama arbeiteten, und überholte die anderen älteren Häfen der Karibik nach der Öffnung des Kanals schnell.

Portobelo liegt in der Provinz Colón an der wunderschönen Karibikküste Panamas, ganz in der Nähe des berühmten Kanals. Christoph Kolumbus, der diese schöne ruhige Bucht 1502 entdeckte, taufte sie auf den Namen „Schöner Hafen“. Portobelo entwickelte sich zu einem der bedeutendsten Einschiffungshäfen für Edelmetalle aus Spanien der neuen Welt. Ein Besuch der Festungen, die zum UNESCO-Welterbe gehören, ist ein Muss. Die Stadt hat sich starke religiöse und kulturelle Traditionen aus ihrer Kolonialvergangenheit bewahrt, zum Beispiel die Verehrung des schwarzen Christus und eine tief verwurzelte afro-karibische Kultur. Bei den Congo-Zeremonien wird die Geschichte der spanischen Herrschaft über die schwarzen Sklaven mit Folkloretänzen und Musik nachgespielt.

Mehr als 300 Inseln verteilen sich so über etwa 300 Kilometer und bieten den Reisenden auf der Suche nach Ungewöhnlichem eine Menge Schätze. Geschützt hinter einem langen und schönen Korallenriff warten die San-Blas-Inseln mit zahlreichen Ankerplätzen auf, die Ihnen einer paradiesischer als der andere erscheinen. Der lebendige Handels- und Fischerhafen liegt in einer Bucht an der Westküste von Grenada und bietet ein farbenfrohes Spektakel, vor allem, wenn die Barken mit Obst und Gemüse beladen werden, die die Nachbarinseln versorgen, oder wenn die kleinen Trawler in den Hafen zurückkehren. Terre-de-Haut im Osten wird vom Morne Mire beherrscht. Auf dessen Gipfel erhebt sich das Fort Napoleon, das der Geschichte der Inseln die Ehre erweist. Das an der Westküste von Martinique gelegene Fort-de-France begeistert durch seine grandiose Bucht, die zu den schönsten der Welt gehört. Am Eingang des Hafens wacht das Fort Saint-Louis auf einem schmalen Streifen Land über die Hauptstadt von Martinique. Von dort oben eröffnet sich Ihnen eine einzigartige Aussicht. Die Kathedrale Saint-Louis oder die Schœlcher-Bibliothek zeugen von einer jahrhundertealten Geschichte, die eng mit der Insel verknüpft ist. Sie können auf dem immer sehr farbenfrohen Großen Markt frische Kokosnuss kosten. The fortress is one of the colony’s architectural military gems and it’s the largest Spanish fort in mainland South America. This fortress defended the city from several attacks, including its largest battle against British Admiral Vernon in 1741.
Then, you will take a tour of the Naval Museum, where you will learn about Colombia's Naval History and attend a show about Colombian folklore. The museum has permanent exhibitions relating to the Military Naval History of Cartagena de Indias, Universal Navigation, the Colombian Navy up through current times, as well as an exhibition about Colonial and early Republican periods.
A stop will be made at the beautiful Saint Peter Claver Church and Cloister, built in homage to the protector of slaves (outside visit).
Continue to the Old City and stroll down its colonial streets, adorned by balconies overflowing with flowers. See San Pedro and Bolivar square, the main square of the city. Admire the Cathedral and the original headquarters of the colonial Spanish government. Keep a watch out for the statue of Simón Bolivar as well as the Inquisition Palace, and all the history that accompanies it.
Then, you will visit the Inquisition Palace an eighteenth-century palace that was the seat of the Holy Office of the Inquisition in Cartagena. It has been described as "one of the finer buildings" in Cartagena and cited as one of Cartagena's "best examples of late colonial, civil architecture".
Enjoy some leisure time to explore the historical centre, after enjoying a real Colombian coffee.
Finally, reboard your coach and return to the ship.

Mangrove in traditional canoe
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 45-minute drive to La Cueva del Manglar, where your canoe tour will begin.
During your 1-hour trip on a traditional canoe, you can enjoy a protected eco-system that’s teeming with birdlife. Your guide will provide you with a safety briefing before leaving you with local fishermen, who will show you the Mangrove. As you glide through the swampy waters, keep an eye out in the sky and you may be able to see kingfishers, white herons and pelicans.

Rosario Islands, from nature to relaxation
Rosario Islands have been designated as a Natural National Park to protect one of the most important coral reefs of the Colombian Caribbean coast. The park covers an area of 1,200 square kilometres (460 sq mi) of protected waters. The archipelago of Rosario Islands is located 38 km (24 mi) south of Cartagena and is composed of 27 small coral islands. Three of them are State property while the others are privately owned.
From the pier, you will meet your guide and walk to your speedboat, a 10-minute walk. Once embarking, you will start your scenic sail from Cartagena to the Rosario Islands, 1-hour sail including photo stops.
At your arrival at the hotel, you will have a welcome drink before enjoying free time to relax you on the beach and discover on your own this wonderful nature park.
Then, you will have a traditional Colombian lunch before boarding your speedboat and return to your ship, a one-hour sail.

Highlights of Santa Marta
From the pier, you will board a coach and start your exploration of Santa Marta.
Santa Marta, Colombia’s oldest city, is situated on the Caribbean coast and boasts a fine natural harbour, beaches and a unique view. That is only part of the reasons the Spaniards chose this as their first settlement.
Your first stop will be at the Gold Museum located on the Second floor of the Bank of the Republic. You will discover the museum’s pre-Colombian artefacts exhibit and a small, yet priceless, collection of Tairona gold and pottery pieces.
Next, you will visit the Cathedral, the first church in the city. The Church of Santa Ana was built in 1529. After being elevated to the rank of Cathedral, the church was considered as “built with the barrel boards carried by the river when it swelled”.
Your last visit will be San Pedro de Alejandrino Villa, dating to the 17th century. This country estate was offered in 1830 by Don Joaquin Mier y Benitez to Simon Bolivar as a refuge for his last days. The Colombian Government later declared the house as a national monument. Nowadays, the interior of the villa has been restored and the extensive gardens have been returned to their former glory.
Before reaching your ship, you will enjoy a display of Colombia’s culture during a folklore show with traditional songs and dances and a soft drink.

Quebrada hike & waterfall
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 1-hour drive to Quebrada Valencia.
Upon your arrival, you will start your ecological hiking tour to the waterfall descending from the Sierra Nevada. The eternally white capped Sierra Nevada is the tallest mountain bordering the sea in the world. The natural waterfall forms a series of natural pools housing a variety of fish.
After a 30-minute hike, you will enjoy free time to explore, relax or swim in the crystalline waters.

The Tayronaka ruins
From the pier, you will board your coach for an 1 ½-hour drive to the Tayronaka ruins.
This tour will allow you to discover the ancient ruins and culture of one of Colombia’s 70 indigenous tribes, all of which were thought to have descended from pre-Hispanic civilizations.
You will pass into the foothills of Sierra Nevada – the highest mountain range in the world. Look out the window and you will spot the lush jungle of the Tayrona National Park, and tiny villages where locals make a living selling fresh fruit to passing travellers.
Once, you will swap the road for a jungle trail, walking through the vegetation to reach the Tayronaka Ruins, the remains of an indigenous settlement built between 800 and 1600 AD. Close by are the tribal lands of the Kogi people, said to be direct descendants of the Tayrona tribe. You will enjoy a walking tour of the settlement’s ruins and an introduction to the culture of the Kogi, followed by some free time.
After your encounter, you will enjoy a typical lunch accompanied by “agua panela con limon” (sugar cane juice with lemon).

Bonaire Island highlights
From the pier, board your coach and start your panoramic tour along the coast to discover the highlights of Bonaire.
Bonaire Island seems to have risen from the sea as the fossils embedded in limestone suggest. The contrasting colours of the Caribbean Sea and the pink salt-pans, snow-white salt mounds and clear blue skies make the island unique. The exotic landscape is chock-full of huge candelabra cacti, 'Divi-divi' trees, birds and wildlife.
You will head North through the centre of town and more residential areas towards a salt lake — an excellent opportunity to stop and snap a picture of the flamingos.
The drive to Goto Lake will provide you with plenty of opportunities to admire the endemic flora and fauna, as well as the aloe vera plantation.
Goto Lake, a natural salt water lake and feeding ground for the flamingos, is one of the most unique locations on the island. Following narrow, tree-lined country lanes will bring you to a natural drinking well for animals before reaching Rincon Village. Upon arrival, you will listen to tales about this ancient village, built by Spanish explorers in the 14th century.
Reboard your coach for the drive to Washington-Slagbaai National Park. At the entrance to the National Park, there is a complete 12 m-long whale skeleton. You will then be able to visit the natural history plantation museum and the open-air exhibit for a peak into Bonaire’s heritage.
Finally, drive along the colourful southern coast, home to the salt company and the flamingo’s protected nesting grounds. Learn how salt is produced today on Bonaire, and how the slaves mined it in the 17th century. At the Slave Huts, see and feel history as you visit the original huts used as shelters by the slaves.

Marine park sail & snorkel

Once arrived, you will board your vessel and start your cruise along the coast of Bonaire.
Your first stop will be the Bonaire National Marine Park.
The Bonaire National Marine Park, established in 1979, is world famous for its active management of the island’s marine resources. In 1992, it was one of the first dive destinations to introduce admission fees for scuba divers. The park includes 6,700 acres of fringing reefs, seagrasses and mangroves. Bonaire’s coral reefs begin at the water’s edge and extend seaward for up to 984 feet. The park is home to an astonishing array of marine life, and Conservation International considers the waters around Bonaire to be a hotspot of Caribbean biodiversity. Bonaire’s fringing coral reefs are home to virtually every species of hard and soft coral found in the Caribbean. More than 340 fish species live here, making it one of the healthiest and most bio-diverse reefs in the region.
You will enjoy approximately 1 ½ hour of snorkelling or just relax on the boat.
After enjoying some refreshments, you will sail back to your ship (40-minute sail).

Mangrove by clear-bottom kayak

Lac Bay National Park, the largest semi-enclosed bay in the Dutch Caribbean, is sheltered from pounding seas by a fringing barrier reef. Its inaccessible mangroves provide nesting sites and safe havens for frigate birds, herons, flamingos, pelicans and endangered ospreys. Its seagrass beds are a vital nursery for reef fish and a foraging ground for endangered queen conch and green turtles.
After receiving instructions, a safety briefing and a safety vest, you will follow your guide into the mangroves on your sit-on-top clear-bottom ocean kayak, complete with a paddle and adjustable backrest. The kayak provides an ideal mode of transport in this tranquil environment, as you manoeuvre with ease through the mangrove shallows and tunnels.
While gliding by four different species of mangrove trees in crystal-clear waters, paddling past bird habitats and fish spawning areas, you will learn of the relationship between the plants and the animals and discover the serene environment of the mangroves.
After kayaking, you can go in search of green turtles during a snorkelling session. The main seagrass species found at Lac Bay is turtle grass, which is the favourite food of green turtles.
Before getting back to your ship, you will enjoy some refreshments.

Washington Slagbaai National Park by truck
From the pier, board your coach for a short, 45-minute drive through the quaint capital, Kralendijk, and continuing North via Kaminda Gurubu.
Colonial buildings combined with modern architecture paint the picture of today’s Bonaire. As you make your way through the hills and rugged terrain along the eastern coastline, a landscape chock-full of cacti will greet you as waves crash and spurt jets of water into the air.
At the entrance to the Washington-Slagbaai National Park, you will visit the natural history plantation museum and the open-air museum for a peak into Bonaire’s heritage.
Washington Slagbaai National Park was originally inhabited by native South Americans and is comprised of what were once two of the largest plantations on the island during the colonial period. The park is rich in historical and cultural heritage. Nowadays, the park is a 5,643-hectare nature sanctuary located in the northwest part of the island. It was the first nature sanctuary of the Netherlands Antilles and was established in 1969. It is a safe habitat for the terrestrial endemic and endangered species of Bonaire. The park is home to many species of flora and fauna, including 180 species of birds. Parrots, flamingos, parakeets, iguanas and many other species of birds and reptiles can be found in this protected area. The beaches inside the park are an important nesting ground for all four species of sea turtles found in the Caribbean.
After your visit of the museum, you will board your truck and start your 1 ½ hour adventure over bumpy terrain, winding through the park to the salt lakes, sand dunes and hidden cove beaches. Only flocks of flamingos or the spray of crashing waves will interrupt the serenity of this landscape.
Your tour will end with a scenic 45-minute drive back to your ship.

Grenada aboard your zodiac
Grenada is an island of many hidden treasures: picturesque coastlines shaped by volcanic relief, isolated beaches and estates sheltering cocoa and nutmeg plantations. Spices have pride of place here, hence the nickname “Spice Island”.
A short drive away from the quayside, is the Port Louis marina where your zodiacs will be waiting.
After being given the safety instructions and your equipment, you will begin your adventure as the pilot of your own zodiac. This outing in open water and into the marine park will enable you to discover Grenada’s coast and various landscapes.
After around 30 minutes of pilotage, you will stop for a snorkelling excursion (45 minutes) to discover the underwater statues installed by the English artist Jason De Cayres Taylor. In May 2006, he created the world’s first underwater sculpture park in the waters of Grenada.
After this experience, you will set off again aboard your zodiac to explore the marine world of the Caribbean coast before returning to the marina.
Finally, you will arrive back at the quayside and your ship.

The zodiacs are fitted with 25 HP outboard motors and can accommodate up to two people. A safety vest is provided and must be worn during navigation. Equipment, fins, mask, snorkel and snorkelling vests are included for each participant. For the embarkation aboard the zodiacs, you will have to remove your shoes and remain bare foot. Aquashoes are accepted if the sole is clean of all aggressive residues. It is compulsory for participants aged under 18 years old to be accompanied by an adult. The maximum weight limit for two people per Zodiac is 180 kg (395 lbs). This excursion is not recommended for pregnant women, people with neck, back, hip or back problems or those suffering from cardiac or respiratory problems. Nutmeg & chocolate
Grenada is an island of many hidden treasures: picturesque coastlines shaped by volcanic relief, isolated beaches and estates sheltering cocoa and nutmeg plantations. Spices have pride of place here, hence the nickname “Spice Island”.
From the quayside, you will board your coach for a 50-minute drive towards the north of the island. In Grenada, all along the Caribbean coast, fishing villages come one after another and the beaches stretch out in long coral and volcanic ribbons.
Arriving in Gouyave, you will visit the nutmeg cooperative to discover how what the locals call “Grenada gold” is harvested, processed and exported. In this well-protected site, you will go back a hundred years in time. See as the long procedure used to process this precious spice is still to this day, mainly in the agile hands of the “Mammas” (women). No modern machine or conveyor belt is used.
Then, you will visit the “Diamond Chocolate Factory”, set up in 2013 in a former rum distillery built in the 18th century by French monks. The visit will enable you to understand all the stages involved in the processing of cacao beans, from their harvesting on trees to the fermentation, sorting, drying, roasting, grinding and finally refining, to make a fine, 100% pure and unsweetened chocolate. In July 2016, the “Jouvay” organic chocolate was ranked among the 10 best chocolates in the world by National Geographic. The visit of this site ends with a tour of the cacao tree garden and a chocolate tasting accompanied by a fresh fruit juice.
Finally, you will arrive back at the quayside and your ship.

Sapphire falls hiking
From the pier, board your coach for a 15-minute drive through the town of Soufrière to Sapphire hiking trail, where you will meet your hiking guide.
Begin your guided hike through residential areas and rainforest to Sapphire Falls, nestled idyllically between botanical gardens and the volcano overflow. Saint Lucia is famous thanks to its finest therapeutic mud bath and warm waterfall, due to mineral-rich volcanic ash, flowing straight from La Soufrière. Once arriving at the falls, you will have the choice either to relax you or take a bath in the dark water.
After your hike and your bath stop, return to your coach for a short drive to Morne Coubaril Estate, a sprawling plateau farm. Producing cocoa, coffee, coconuts, bananas and an assortment of other tropical products, this working plantation has been in the business of cultivation since the 17th century. Walking tour & Napoleon fortress
From the pier, you will meet your guide to discover the secrets of Terre-de-Haut.
After a short walk, you will board a mini-bus and drive to the Vauban-style Fort Napoléon which overlooks ‘La Baie des Saintes’. It was built in the mid-1800's as a tribute to Napoleon III on the site of the original Fort Louis, destroyed by the English in 1809.
From here, you can either go on the guided tour or explore the fort on your own. You will then stroll down to a shipyard in Marigot Bay to see how they build traditional boats, before heading for the centre of Bourg.
Before returning to your ship, you will have the opportunity to taste the famous "Tourment d'Amour", a small round tart with a soft coconut, banana, guava or cherry filling depending on the season, which originates from these islands. A tasting will be organised according to the staff availabilities.
During this excursion, a snack of local fruit juices and manioc crackers will be served.

Les Saintes by boat & swimming
From the pier, board your motorboat and start your scenic journey around the isles of les Saintes. The archipelago of les Saintes consists of nine islands spread between Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas main islands.
Head first to the Marigot bay, a place in Terre-de-Haut Island well-known by local fishermen, before going around to reach îlet à Cabrit and other islets.
Sailing along the southern coast of Terre-de-Haut Island, you will then reach the small uninhabited island of Grand Ilet, a paradise for tortoises and seabirds. Following a stop at La Coche, continue to Terre-de-Bas where you can see an old pottery workshop, as well as tortoises and pelicans who settled there.
Back to Terre-de-Haut, you will then sail to the Pain de Sucre (Sugar loaf), a geological formation caused by an ancient basalt flow. There, enjoy some free time for bathing, snorkelling and having a refreshment, before sailing back to the pier and your ship.
- This tour involves very limited walking. We recommend you wear comfortable nonslip shoes, have your swimsuit under your clothes, take a towel and a bottle of water from the ship, and protect yourself from the sun. Mask and snorkel will be provided. Refreshments are included in the tour. The motorboat is equipped with removable roof and a ladder, but no toilets. You will depart this morning for a sightseeing tour of Panama City. You will be taken first to Miraflores locks, the so-called “Eighth Wonder of the world”. Panama Canal is one of the most celebrated human achievements on the planet. Upon arrival at Miraflores Visitors Centre, you will visit the exhibition halls and learn about the Panama Canal’s history, its impact on international trade, how it works, its close relationship with nature and the Canal Expansion. From one of Miraflores observation terraces, you will be able to watch the lock gates open and close as vessels begin or end their transit, and you may observe transiting vessels from a distance of only a few meters while you learn about the various operations of the Panama Canal (cannot be guaranteed depending on Panama Canal timetable).
Discover the turbulent past of Panama City, in Casco Antiguo (or Casco Viejo) which is the historic part and the cultural gem of this vibrant metropolis. After the destruction of the first Panama City by pirate Henry Morgan, Casco Antiguo became the second Panama City. It was established around 1673 by French colonialists, the Catholic Church and other settlers. This is where much of the impressive colonial and Baroque architecture remains today. The modern, cosmopolitan areas of Panama City add a third layer to this historically rich city. You will get the chance to explore on your own this neighbourhood of Casco Antiguo with its colonial style government buildings, old churches and grand plazas. Casco Antiguo has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997.
Your tour will continue at the Biomuseo, also called the Gehry’s Museum in honour of its world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. The building is designed to recall the creation of the isthmus of Panama which linked two continents and changed the planet’s biodiversity forever. The event that would change natural history for both continents occurred around three million years ago. Species from both continents mingled as northern animals went south and southern animals went north. The Biomuseo’s 4,000 square metres describe the country’s rich biodiversity.

Enjoy wonderful views of the Chagres River during lunch.

Discover Cartagena
From the pier, board your coach and drive to San Felipe fortress for a photo opportunity. The fortress is one of the colony’s architectural military gems and it’s the largest Spanish fort in mainland South America. This fortress defended the city from several attacks, including its largest battle against British Admiral Vernon in 1741.
Then, you will take a tour of the Naval Museum, where you will learn about Colombia's Naval History and attend a show about Colombian folklore. The museum has permanent exhibitions relating to the Military Naval History of Cartagena de Indias, Universal Navigation, the Colombian Navy up through current times, as well as an exhibition about Colonial and early Republican periods.
A stop will be made at the beautiful Saint Peter Claver Church and Cloister, built in homage to the protector of slaves (outside visit).

Mangrove in traditional canoe
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 45-minute drive to La Cueva del Manglar, where your canoe tour will begin.
During your 1-hour trip on a traditional canoe, you can enjoy a protected eco-system that’s teeming with birdlife. Your guide will provide you with a safety briefing before leaving you with local fishermen, who will show you the Mangrove. Rosario Islands, from nature to relaxation
Rosario Islands have been designated as a Natural National Park to protect one of the most important coral reefs of the Colombian Caribbean coast. The park covers an area of 1,200 square kilometres (460 sq mi) of protected waters. The archipelago of Rosario Islands is located 38 km (24 mi) south of Cartagena and is composed of 27 small coral islands. Three of them are State property while the others are privately owned.
From the pier, you will meet your guide and walk to your speedboat, a 10-minute walk. Once embarking, you will start your scenic sail from Cartagena to the Rosario Islands, 1-hour sail including photo stops.
At your arrival at the hotel, you will have a welcome drink before enjoying free time to relax you on the beach and discover on your own this wonderful nature park.

Highlights of Santa Marta
From the pier, you will board a coach and start your exploration of Santa Marta.
Santa Marta, Colombia’s oldest city, is situated on the Caribbean coast and boasts a fine natural harbour, beaches and a unique view. That is only part of the reasons the Spaniards chose this as their first settlement.
Your first stop will be at the Gold Museum located on the Second floor of the Bank of the Republic. You will discover the museum’s pre-Colombian artefacts exhibit and a small, yet priceless, collection of Tairona gold and pottery pieces.
Next, you will visit the Cathedral, the first church in the city. The Church of Santa Ana was built in 1529. After being elevated to the rank of Cathedral, the church was considered as “built with the barrel boards carried by the river when it swelled”.
Your last visit will be San Pedro de Alejandrino Villa, dating to the 17th century. This country estate was offered in 1830 by Don Joaquin Mier y Benitez to Simon Bolivar as a refuge for his last days. The Colombian Government later declared the house as a national monument. Nowadays, the interior of the villa has been restored and the extensive gardens have been returned to their former glory.

Quebrada hike & waterfall
From the pier, you will board your coach for a 1-hour drive to Quebrada Valencia.
Upon your arrival, you will start your ecological hiking tour to the waterfall descending from the Sierra Nevada. The eternally white capped Sierra Nevada is the tallest mountain bordering the sea in the world. The natural waterfall forms a series of natural pools housing a variety of fish.

The Tayronaka ruins
From the pier, you will board your coach for an 1 ½-hour drive to the Tayronaka ruins.
This tour will allow you to discover the ancient ruins and culture of one of Colombia’s 70 indigenous tribes, all of which were thought to have descended from pre-Hispanic civilizations.
You will pass into the foothills of Sierra Nevada – the highest mountain range in the world. Look out the window and you will spot the lush jungle of the Tayrona National Park, and tiny villages where locals make a living selling fresh fruit to passing travellers.
Once, you will swap the road for a jungle trail, walking through the vegetation to reach the Tayronaka Ruins, the remains of an indigenous settlement built between 800 and 1600 AD. Close by are the tribal lands of the Kogi people, said to be direct descendants of the Tayrona tribe. You will enjoy a walking tour of the settlement’s ruins and an introduction to the culture of the Kogi, followed by some free time.
After your encounter, you will enjoy a typical lunch accompanied by “agua panela con limon” (sugar cane juice with lemon).

Bonaire Island highlights
From the pier, board your coach and start your panoramic tour along the coast to discover the highlights of Bonaire.
Bonaire Island seems to have risen from the sea as the fossils embedded in limestone suggest. The contrasting colours of the Caribbean Sea and the pink salt-pans, snow-white salt mounds and clear blue skies make the island unique. The exotic landscape is chock-full of huge candelabra cacti, 'Divi-divi' trees, birds and wildlife.
You will head North through the centre of town and more residential areas towards a salt lake — an excellent opportunity to stop and snap a picture of the flamingos.
The drive to Goto Lake will provide you with plenty of opportunities to admire the endemic flora and fauna, as well as the aloe vera plantation.
Goto Lake, a natural salt water lake and feeding ground for the flamingos, is one of the most unique locations on the island. Following narrow, tree-lined country lanes will bring you to a natural drinking well for animals before reaching Rincon Village. Upon arrival, you will listen to tales about this ancient village, built by Spanish explorers in the 14th century.
Reboard your coach for the drive to Washington-Slagbaai National Park. At the entrance to the National Park, there is a complete 12 m-long whale skeleton. You will then be able to visit the natural history plantation museum and the open-air exhibit for a peak into Bonaire’s heritage.
Finally, drive along the colourful southern coast, home to the salt company and the flamingo’s protected nesting grounds. Learn how salt is produced today on Bonaire, and how the slaves mined it in the 17th century. At the Slave Huts, see and feel history as you visit the original huts used as shelters by the slaves.

Marine park sail & snorkel

Once arrived, you will board your vessel and start your cruise along the coast of Bonaire.
Your first stop will be the Bonaire National Marine Park.
The Bonaire National Marine Park, established in 1979, is world famous for its active management of the island’s marine resources. In 1992, it was one of the first dive destinations to introduce admission fees for scuba divers. The park includes 6,700 acres of fringing reefs, seagrasses and mangroves. Bonaire’s coral reefs begin at the water’s edge and extend seaward for up to 984 feet. The park is home to an astonishing array of marine life, and Conservation International considers the waters around Bonaire to be a hotspot of Caribbean biodiversity. Bonaire’s fringing coral reefs are home to virtually every species of hard and soft coral found in the Caribbean. More than 340 fish species live here, making it one of the healthiest and most bio-diverse reefs in the region.
You will enjoy approximately 1 ½ hour of snorkelling or just relax on the boat.
After enjoying some refreshments, you will sail back to your ship (40-minute sail).

Mangrove by clear-bottom kayak

Lac Bay National Park, the largest semi-enclosed bay in the Dutch Caribbean, is sheltered from pounding seas by a fringing barrier reef. Its inaccessible mangroves provide nesting sites and safe havens for frigate birds, herons, flamingos, pelicans and endangered ospreys. Its seagrass beds are a vital nursery for reef fish and a foraging ground for endangered queen conch and green turtles.
After receiving instructions, a safety briefing and a safety vest, you will follow your guide into the mangroves on your sit-on-top clear-bottom ocean kayak, complete with a paddle and adjustable backrest. The kayak provides an ideal mode of transport in this tranquil environment, as you manoeuvre with ease through the mangrove shallows and tunnels.
While gliding by four different species of mangrove trees in crystal-clear waters, paddling past bird habitats and fish spawning areas, you will learn of the relationship between the plants and the animals and discover the serene environment of the mangroves.
After kayaking, you can go in search of green turtles during a snorkelling session. The main seagrass species found at Lac Bay is turtle grass, which is the favourite food of green turtles.

Washington Slagbaai National Park by truck
From the pier, board your coach for a short, 45-minute drive through the quaint capital, Kralendijk, and continuing North via Kaminda Gurubu.
Colonial buildings combined with modern architecture paint the picture of today’s Bonaire. As you make your way through the hills and rugged terrain along the eastern coastline, a landscape chock-full of cacti will greet you as waves crash and spurt jets of water into the air.
At the entrance to the Washington-Slagbaai National Park, you will visit the natural history plantation museum and the open-air museum for a peak into Bonaire’s heritage.
Washington Slagbaai National Park was originally inhabited by native South Americans and is comprised of what were once two of the largest plantations on the island during the colonial period. The park is rich in historical and cultural heritage. Nowadays, the park is a 5,643-hectare nature sanctuary located in the northwest part of the island. It was the first nature sanctuary of the Netherlands Antilles and was established in 1969. It is a safe habitat for the terrestrial endemic and endangered species of Bonaire. The park is home to many species of flora and fauna, including 180 species of birds. Parrots, flamingos, parakeets, iguanas and many other species of birds and reptiles can be found in this protected area. The beaches inside the park are an important nesting ground for all four species of sea turtles found in the Caribbean.
After your visit of the museum, you will board your truck and start your 1 ½ hour adventure over bumpy terrain, winding through the park to the salt lakes, sand dunes and hidden cove beaches. Only flocks of flamingos or the spray of crashing waves will interrupt the serenity of this landscape.

Grenada aboard your zodiac
Grenada is an island of many hidden treasures: picturesque coastlines shaped by volcanic relief, isolated beaches and estates sheltering cocoa and nutmeg plantations. Spices have pride of place here, hence the nickname “Spice Island”.
A short drive away from the quayside, is the Port Louis marina where your zodiacs will be waiting.
After being given the safety instructions and your equipment, you will begin your adventure as the pilot of your own zodiac. This outing in open water and into the marine park will enable you to discover Grenada’s coast and various landscapes.
After around 30 minutes of pilotage, you will stop for a snorkelling excursion (45 minutes) to discover the underwater statues installed by the English artist Jason De Cayres Taylor. In May 2006, he created the world’s first underwater sculpture park in the waters of Grenada.
After this experience, you will set off again aboard your zodiac to explore the marine world of the Caribbean coast before returning to the marina.
Finally, you will arrive back at the quayside and your ship.

The zodiacs are fitted with 25 HP outboard motors and can accommodate up to two people. A safety vest is provided and must be worn during navigation. Equipment, fins, mask, snorkel and snorkelling vests are included for each participant. For the embarkation aboard the zodiacs, you will have to remove your shoes and remain bare foot. Aquashoes are accepted if the sole is clean of all aggressive residues. It is compulsory for participants aged under 18 years old to be accompanied by an adult. The maximum weight limit for two people per Zodiac is 180 kg (395 lbs). This excursion is not recommended for pregnant women, people with neck, back, hip or back problems or those suffering from cardiac or respiratory problems. Nutmeg & chocolate
Grenada is an island of many hidden treasures: picturesque coastlines shaped by volcanic relief, isolated beaches and estates sheltering cocoa and nutmeg plantations. Spices have pride of place here, hence the nickname “Spice Island”.
From the quayside, you will board your coach for a 50-minute drive towards the north of the island. In Grenada, all along the Caribbean coast, fishing villages come one after another and the beaches stretch out in long coral and volcanic ribbons.
Arriving in Gouyave, you will visit the nutmeg cooperative to discover how what the locals call “Grenada gold” is harvested, processed and exported. In this well-protected site, you will go back a hundred years in time. See as the long procedure used to process this precious spice is still to this day, mainly in the agile hands of the “Mammas” (women). No modern machine or conveyor belt is used.
Then, you will visit the “Diamond Chocolate Factory”, set up in 2013 in a former rum distillery built in the 18th century by French monks. The visit will enable you to understand all the stages involved in the processing of cacao beans, from their harvesting on trees to the fermentation, sorting, drying, roasting, grinding and finally refining, to make a fine, 100% pure and unsweetened chocolate. In July 2016, the “Jouvay” organic chocolate was ranked among the 10 best chocolates in the world by National Geographic. The visit of this site ends with a tour of the cacao tree garden and a chocolate tasting accompanied by a fresh fruit juice.
Finally, you will arrive back at the quayside and your ship.

Soufrière and botanical garden
From the pier board your coach for a leisurely drive through the town of Soufrière.
Your first stop will be at the Botanical Gardens and Diamond Baths, where the exuberant vegetation spreads its colour among a profusion of exotic flowers. The garden was a famous spot for Napoléon's wife, Joséphine. Marvel at the tropical plants carefully arranged along the sides of the pathway leading to the waterfall.
Then you will visit the Soufrière, referred to as the Caribbean's only "drive-in" volcano. This historic site is the result of volcanic eruptions some 300,000 years ago. The Soufrière is an active volcano, where you will have the occasion to observe the Sulphur springs. Smell the sulphur as you enter the gates and inhale the natural scents (it has been proven that the sulphur water has many medicinal properties). See the sulphuric fumaroles and steam jet escape from the soil whereas the sulphurous water of the natural baths boil at a temperature which can reaching 338 °F (170 °C).
After a short drive, you will reach Morne Coubaril Estate for a guided tour of this sprawling plateau farm. Producer of cocoa, coffee, coconuts, bananas and an assortment of other tropical products, this working plantation has been in the business of cultivation since the 17th century. It maintains some of the same harvesting and processing practices that have served it in good stead for hundreds of years.

Sapphire falls hiking
From the pier, board your coach for a 15-minute drive through the town of Soufrière to Sapphire hiking trail, where you will meet your hiking guide.
Begin your guided hike through residential areas and rainforest to Sapphire Falls, nestled idyllically between botanical gardens and the volcano overflow. Saint Lucia is famous thanks to its finest therapeutic mud bath and warm waterfall, due to mineral-rich volcanic ash, flowing straight from La Soufrière. Once arriving at the falls, you will have the choice either to relax you or take a bath in the dark water.
After your hike and your bath stop, return to your coach for a short drive to Morne Coubaril Estate, a sprawling plateau farm. Producing cocoa, coffee, coconuts, bananas and an assortment of other tropical products, this working plantation has been in the business of cultivation since the 17th century. It maintains some of the same harvesting and processing practices that have served it in good stead for hundreds of years. Here, enjoy some free time to relax with some refreshments.
Finally, you will reboard your coach for the 15-minute drive back to the pier.
- This excursion involves approximately 70 minutes of walking on uneven, dirty and rocky terrains while hiking to the waterfalls. The hiking trail may be slippery and muddy in the event of heavy rainfall. There are approximately 150 steep steps to negotiate for your hike. This tour is not recommended for people suffering from back, hip, knee nor respiratory problems. We recommend you wear comfortable hiking shoes, wear your swimsuit under your clothes, bring a towel from the ship, bring an insect repellent and protect yourself from the sun. One rustic unisex washroom is accessible at the falls. Children must be at least 12 years old to participate and be accompanied by a parent. This tour is limited to 30 participants.

Walking tour & Napoleon fortress
From the pier, you will meet your guide to discover the secrets of Terre-de-Haut.
After a short walk, you will board a mini-bus and drive to the Vauban-style Fort Napoléon which overlooks ‘La Baie des Saintes’. It was built in the mid-1800's as a tribute to Napoleon III on the site of the original Fort Louis, destroyed by the English in 1809.
From here, you can either go on the guided tour or explore the fort on your own. You will then stroll down to a shipyard in Marigot Bay to see how they build traditional boats, before heading for the centre of Bourg.
Before returning to your ship, you will have the opportunity to taste the famous "Tourment d'Amour", a small round tart with a soft coconut, banana, guava or cherry filling depending on the season, which originates from these islands. A tasting will be organised according to the staff availabilities.
During this excursion, a snack of local fruit juices and manioc crackers will be served.

Les Saintes by boat & swimming
From the pier, board your motorboat and start your scenic journey around the isles of les Saintes. The archipelago of les Saintes consists of nine islands spread between Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas main islands.
Head first to the Marigot bay, a place in Terre-de-Haut Island well-known by local fishermen, before going around to reach îlet à Cabrit and other islets.
Sailing along the southern coast of Terre-de-Haut Island, you will then reach the small uninhabited island of Grand Ilet, a paradise for tortoises and seabirds. Following a stop at La Coche, continue to Terre-de-Bas where you can see an old pottery workshop, as well as tortoises and pelicans who settled there.
Back to Terre-de-Haut, you will then sail to the Pain de Sucre (Sugar loaf), a geological formation caused by an ancient basalt flow. There, enjoy some free time for bathing, snorkelling and having a refreshment, before sailing back to the pier and your ship.
- This tour involves very limited walking. We recommend you wear comfortable nonslip shoes, have your swimsuit under your clothes, take a towel and a bottle of water from the ship, and protect yourself from the sun. Mask and snorkel will be provided. Refreshments are included in the tour. The motorboat is equipped with removable roof and a ladder, but no toilets. Passengers must be able to embark and disembark without assistance. The fauna and flora observation is not guaranteed. This tour is limited to 12 participants.

Fort-de-France
After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local representative.
First you will be taken to Morne Savon, a hilly suburb of Balata where is located the Church of Balata. The Church of Balata is a small replica – scaled down to a fifth of the original monument - of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica in Paris. The pure white Dome and bell tower contrast with the lush vegetation of its surroundings. Built in 1925, it offers an impressive panorama over the city of Fort-de-France. If the church is opened and there is no mass celebrated, you will get the opportunity to visit its interior during this photo stop.
You will them spend about one hour at Balata Botanical Garden created in 1982 by the expert botanist Jean-Philippe Thoze. Inspired by his journeys, this garden is an epic floral works of art made out of roses, hibiscus, orchids, and many other plants. Today it contains about 3,000 varieties of tropical plants from around the world. It is organized around the family house built in a typical creole style. You will experience a nice stroll in the quiet, shady paths lined with colourful flowers appealing to the eyes as much as to the smell.
You will continue your exploration to the village of Le Francois for the visit of the Habitation Clement. The Habitation Clement stands an important place in the architectural and industrial patrimony of Martinique. It has been recognized as a Historic Monument by the Ministry of Culture. The term ‘Habitation’ in its Creole sense, describes a property and its structures dedicate to agricultural or commercial purpose. You will get the chance to visit the domain, the main house and the distillery. At the end of your visit, enjoy a Rum tasting.
You will then join the restaurant where your lunch will be served. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport in time for check-in for the PONANT selected flight.
